Chand Mia, back on April 9, tried to ask the Shias a fair question but the message got lost in the chaos. In retrospect, the message contained in the post is significant and needs to be objectively looked at.
In the thread: Are Shias muslims? Under the post:What Shi’ites Say About Sunni Muslims, Chand Mia was trying to ask - how can they (the Shias) damn the Sunnis and expect the two to live in harmony? Pls note: I am giving Chand Mian the benefit of the doubt; It is possible that his intent was merely to trash the Shias. The Sunnis should also note - similar damnation by the Sunnis of the Shias are abundant and equally noxious.
1)“The wealth, the property and everything which belongs to a Sunni is actually yours (is legal for you)”
2)“snatch the possessions of a Sunni where ever you find it and hand over my share (ie. One fifth) to me”
3)“Although Allah, the Exalted, has not created a creature worse than a dog, yet a Nasbi (A Sunni) is worse than even a dog.”
4)“It is contained in several sources of information that they, (the assumed Imams of Shias) said: 'Should every angel that Allah, the Exalted and Gracious, has created, every prophet that Allah has appointed, every truthfull martyr, (collectively) pray to Allah, the Exalted and Gracious, to release a Nasbi (a Sunni) from the Hell, Allah would never release him.”
5)“When Qaem alaihissalam appears, he will start slaughtering Sunnis and their Ulema before slaughtering the infidels (kaffar).” (By the term “Quem” the Shi’ites mean Imam Mahdi, their twelfth Imam).
The above damnation is a formal Shia Fatwa (pronouncement) still valid and part of the Shia jurisprudence. Shias seeking brotherly relations with the Sunnis would be expected to denounce any damning pronouncements of the other group - Sunnis in this case. It is empty gesture to quiz the intent or enmity of the other group and be non-chalant of one’s own deception.
I found the above #5 Fatwa, where it talks about the Mahdi appearing and initiating a slaughter of the Sunnis, very reprehensible. If and when this event unfolds - that would be a joyous event for Shias and others but to link the event with “slaughter of the Sunnis and their Ulema before slaughtering the infidels (kaffar)” is particularly offensive. Equally offensive was the silence among the Shias of the Forum. Silence by the Shias conveyed a de-facto agreement of the action/statements, or in this case - the above pronouncements.
If there is ever to be a resumption of brotherly relations between Shias & Sunnis, then first & foremost, people on both side of the religious divide will need to start standing up and protecting the other. Unless that happens – nothing will ever change!
