In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

A married woman or a single one ?
In desi culture single girls are the ones who are tied down by their parents , society , culture , and religion more than the married kind . Right or wrong ?

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

Well I make sure to chain my wife up in the kitchen before leaving for work, so not so sure about that.

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

please elaborate freedom.

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

what do you count as freedom?

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

me persoanlly...i have more freedom as a married woman than a single one. reason being, my husband is relaxed in certain aspects than my parents were....as we also live alone with no family/in laws around...

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

why is thread just about women and why just the desi culture.

Every culture has it's limits and boundaries.

What about desi men and how financially they have to support multiples households sometimes. They don't have any financial freedom to spend their own hard earned money and have to support a whole khandaan.

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

Wohee , wohee , like makeup shakeup , party sharty , dressing shressing , eating sheeting , friends shriends etc.
Like no make up or next to nothing , no paryting , dress code fully implemented , how much and what to eat , which friends to hang around with and which gender etc etc.

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

I think married women may have more freedom in the sense that they don't have to be AS careful of what they say...making mistakes.....whereas single girls have to be careful about every thing lest they hinder rishtas. But marriage brings about greater responsibilities....whereas when you're single, you can focus more on yourself and your goals/needs....greater room in your schedule. Each phase in life has it's pros and cons. I came back from work a while ago....it was tiring to grade so many papers and enter the report card grades for so many students....and now that I'm home...I'm so glad that I don't have kids waiting for me...that I don't have to cook (mom took care of that)...and I can just chill.

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

Oh my....................lol I love how you have a matching word for each one

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

It depends on the woman, not her circumstances.

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

depends on the respective parent(s) and husband........

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

neither.

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

quite ironically, married women.
just one of the several factors that compel women to get married asap

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

Married women or single women having more freedom?

Living with husband in their own home = often more freedom than before

Living with inlaws = often less

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

It depends.

For me, if I compare single life to married life...my single life allows me much more freedom.

I lived with inlaws so I always had to mind what I wore at home, cooked at a certain hour and way, kept the house a certain way, watched TV only at certain times, etc. I really didn't do things the way I wanted...more adapted to how they wanted things to be in my home it seemed.

There are no such limitations living with parents. They have a problem if I come home late which is understandable of course. But that's about it. I do what I want as long as I tell them.

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

Single women definately have way more freedom.

I have to think 10 times before going out somewhere, babysitting, home duties, husband, work etc...

before I would never even think about it and off I went..

Married women have a gazillion more responsibilities hence freedom to be spontaneous is so limited.

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

i think most girls enjoy these freedom.

aint you?

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

I don't know what are you trying to say. I am saying that most desi parents do not allow the things in my list to their single girls or even if they do allow then they have limits imposed. But when they are married they have somewhat freedom to do as they wish based on how conservative or stuck up the husband is. Kia khyal hay ?

Re: In desi culture Who enjoys more freedom ?

Desi culture it self.
