I think, I should stop beating around the bush. The portions that was Hindu Majority was good in creating wealth, the Muslim dominated areas were not. period. That is why India started with something and Pakistan did not and that continues even today. Please do not compare 1947 per-capita income - because it is skewed. 1/3 Pakistan is fertile Punjab, that will skew the stats.

I agree with you, HIndus were good in creating wealth even before Islamic age. Muslim invaders from central asia ; Bristish east india co. all came India because of its wealth not poverty. 200 AD to 600 AD Guptas ruled India..I gues that period is called Golden age of india.
