True. One just needs to look at leaders in Muslim League and INC at the time of independence to see this difference. ML had quite a few strong landlords and Congress consisted of a large number of middle class politicians.
As for the state of economy in 1947, Karachi’s economy was not much far behind say Mumbai, Calcutta, Kuala Lumpur or even Singapore at that time.
