In 2019

2019 is a time to reflect.

Its one year closer to death, one year closer to the grave.

In introspect, what have I achieved in 2018 that I can find to celebrate in 2019. Have I renewed my faith? Have I bettered myself as a practicing Muslim? Have I been kind to his creations, mainly other human beings that are less fortunate? Have I hurt anyone with my actions, with my words? What else have I done to please Allah? If there is not too much goodness in my Book of Deeds, then what is it to celebrate about?

For me its a time to repent. We all sin one way or another.

Welcome to 2019 I hope this will bring us more success and happiness in our life...

Do you have any spiritual goals for 2019 that you want to share? Anything we can all work towards together?

One of mine this year is memorizing and really understanding the 99 names of Allah and using them to make stronger dua.

Inshallah, I’m hoping to become a namazi. I’m terrible at being punctual in everything including this and somebody needs to smack me :bummer:

You actually need to merge :ast: with this :smilestar:to get the full effect.

That's a nice post. My spiritual goal is to read as much more quran as possible to make up for the past when I read none. Also ensure to not miss any more prayers. I have too many qaza pending. Focus is to read all those past qazas. I really hope I would be able to. This goal is from last year actually. Unfortunately, the day I started reading my qazas, by the evening I was taken down by terrible backache that bound me to bed, unable to move at all making me miss more regular prayers too. I'm not so weak physically otherwise. Nor was it a pulled muscle caused for reading extra 12 units of prayer. After recovering from back's unseen, unknown, strange sickness, I totally forgot about prayers regular & past qazas. I understand that the biggest of Satan that has been targetting me khaas (through his monkies from the mankind & his own race), attacked my back to cause physical illness to stop me from my goal. So am gonna try to restart the same goal this year again. And read more Quran to stay protected from similar satanic attacks.

Goal: Increase zikr.

I have a sort of an odd goal.

I have been interested in learning Spanish party due to my job. I am wondering if I'll be able to also pick up Arabic though it is a more difficult language. I hope that it makes it easier to read the Quran as well as letting me understand it instead of solely relying on translations.

Has anyone tried Babel or Rosetta Stones ?
Are there better apps and programs for learning these languages?

I didn't celebrate the coming of the new year. In fact, I feel sooo upset at all the things I wanted to do but I didn't accomplish. It's day 5 of the new year and I have yet to fill out my name in "This 2019 Planner Belongs to: _______" space.

**There are many ways to do Dua, every word uttered that comes from the depth of the heart is a Dua,

Allah told us the way He likes, to make Dua in Quran

“And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them. And leave [the company of] those who practice deviation concerning His names. They will be recompensed for what they have been doing”

Surah 7, Ayah 180

So, we are told, for making Dua, we should Praise Him and invoke Him by His names.

Thats a good initiative and resolution for 2019.

I want to clarify a misconception here. The concept of 99 names of Allah is wrong.
If we look at names of Allah, all the names (that we know) are actually the Praise of Allah. All of His names are His Attributes or what we say in urdu, His Sifaat. For example, Al-Rahman and that means Rehem krne wala ya Merciful. And thats His Sift. Al-Kareem, which means Karam krne wala, His Sift again.
So, this is our way of seeing and limiting things because we have a limited mind that thinks limitedly. Like we say, that guy has two names etc…We are actually limiting that person to two names…
Allah Has no Limits, In fact limits are one of His creatures…His Personality and Attributes are much much bigger than any limit.
So, when Allah’s personality cannot be explained within limits, then its for sure that His Sifaat are unlimited too…
We know Him by His names, by His Attributes, Actions etc…and every word that defines any of His Sift, is His name.
So, Allah has only 99 names, is more than impossible.
Even if you search in Quran, you will find more than 99 names, as the whole Quran is full of praising words for Him…

So, my advice to you and your friend is, go for the common known names first, and after you memorize all of them, look and search for more in Quran, in Ahadeeth and even in your way of seeing His Mercy over all the things happening infront of you…

Wish you all the best :k: **

Last three ayahs of Surah Al Hashr. It is on my list of Surahs/ayahs to memorize. It has a a number of names of Allah and I would to recite it at the beginning of every dua.

Try this you will be punctual In ?āʾ Allāh (إن شاء الله‎,) with everything, I haven?t seen anything that gives barakah in time than Namaz Al-ḥamdu lillāh الحَمْد لله‎‎
as per my experiance Al-ḥamdu lillāh الحَمْد لله‎‎ i always thought about mother with child how do they manage new borns and errands and namaz, i mean sometimes your baby doesnt give you a second to leave you meaning you are full time busy with him and then feel like your house is not cleaned your this and that is not finished yet! But with namaz Allah ki qasam Allah makes everything easy and you feel like barakah in time, everything is done on time! I myself Al-ḥamdu lillāh الحَمْد لله‎‎ gives every mother advice if you want barakah in your time pray five times and then see how it works, just make an intention and Allah will help you
so for you i will say just start doing it now just pray zuhr now and keep your intention for asr and so on
may Allah help us in doing good deeds ameen
