Imtiaz Sipra dies

LAHORE: One of the most renowned sports writers of Pakistan and The News Lahore Sports Editor Imtiaz Sipra died on Tuesday night due to a massive cardiac arrest at his residence here.
At the time of his death on Tuesday night, Sipra was alone at his house. On Wednesday morning, when his servant went to wake him up he found that Sipra was no more. The doctors said Sipra had expired at about 1:00 am following a massive heart attack.
He was buried on Wednesday evening at Liberty Market graveyard. His Namaz-e-Janaza was held at his brother Justice (retd) Sajjad Sipra’s residence. The funeral was largely attended by people who had fallen in love with Sipra’s unique writing style and his lively personality.
Besides a large number of his colleagues, admirers, friends and relatives from Gujrat, Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Falak Sher and many Lahore High Court judges including Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday and Justice Riaz Kiyani, a large number of journalists, sportsmen and high-ranking military and civil officials attended the funereal.
Imtiaz Sipra had recently returned from England after witnessing the Pakistan-England Test series and a one-day triangular tournament. The ever lively and spirited Sipra was known for his wit and the infectious laughter he brought in his wake. One of most talented and learned sports journalists of the country, he introduced a new genre in sports writing. His columns “Sipra Special”, “Cricket Cooings” and “Lahore Lahore Ai” had developed an unprecedented readership.

but for me Pakistan has lost one of its best sports writers he was my favorite Pakistani sports writer too he wrote abt different sports and did not ristrict him to only cricket like many other sports writers in Pakistan
