Imran survived revolt at 1992 World Cup -Miandad

Re: Imran survived revolt at 1992 World Cup -Miandad

I have been browsing this thread quietly…but I feel its time now to set a few facts straight!!!

Whatever Ramiz has said is a huge LIE…for it was HE (Ramiz) himself who was forefront in that (attempted) revolt of our boys at World Cup-92 and it took place a day before our semi-final with New Zealand and it was, indeed Javed who ruffled off the idea stating that Pakistan could just make it and such kind of intricacies do not augur well during such big game.

I have known Javed Miandad very closely since 1983 when the SHARJAH series took birth…we became very close later and he even gave a statement in press that during his absence from the country if thre’s any thing floating about him..RAJU JAMIL will answer the facts and whatever he will say will be deemed to have my (JM’s) buy-in or authentication. Its on records also.

***When both; myself and Saad Shafqat were in deliberations with JM on his biography…this REVOLT thing came up *(unfortunately I couldn’t go to New Zealand for the semis as I got stuck with my cousin at Perth for some family function) and JM did tell us all that…I insisted we punch this chapter in his biography on which JM got uptight and held us back saying “Mein Aisi Baatein Nahin Karna Chahta…”

Whatever JM has revealed is 1000% true and haqeeqat !!! no two ways about it.

I spoke to Athar Vaqar Azim of HUM TV (JM said all this on HUM TV he poineers during Pakistan’s Internationa matches) and Athar too said in bold words that its true and also said that Qamar Ahmed also agrees with whatever JM has said.

I have not been able to talk to JM as his cell is shut off (obviously) but I am meeting him on Sunday at brunch.

I am amazed that Ramiz..of all the people…gave such statement??? He has a short memory or perhaps he is under obligation to Imran who got him the coveted slot of CEO at the PCB in recent past. RAMIZ should not forget that it was HE himself who was ost upfront on that revolt (or whatever..) which was about to take place at WC-92 at New Zealand.

Javed may be a mutlabi or anything savvy…but I NOW FOR THE FACT THAT HE IS NOT A LIAR!!! he was a true diehard player and always played for his country and not for himself. He was belittled, mocked and hurt by many actions of Imran and others…including Wasim Akram..who was slected by JM only much to the objection of Imran for 1985 Australia tour of triangular…

Sorry…a bit of caberate here but one must speak out if such statemets are seen flying around like a handle…

Khush Rahein…

Re: Imran survived revolt at 1992 World Cup -Miandad

A.B.S.O.L.U.T.E.L.Y…wrong!!!
It was RAMIZ RAJA himself who was in forefront against Imran.. and was provoking a revolt…a day before our semis with New Zealand.

I have known JM since 1983 the birth of Sharjah Series… he may be anything…but I know for the fact that he is NOT a liar…

Re: Imran survived revolt at 1992 World Cup -Miandad

It makes perfect sense why Imran never mentioned single player's name in his acceptance speech after winning the WC final.

Re: Imran survived revolt at 1992 World Cup -Miandad

Whether he was a sincere servant or not ,no need to bring these old stories now.

Re: Imran survived revolt at 1992 World Cup -Miandad

In his speech it was only "I" and nothingelse!

Re: Imran survived revolt at 1992 World Cup -Miandad

If Imran was not a selfish and proudy person, many of his old cricket freinds would have joined his party today. So If Miandad is greedy, Imran is also not perfect.

arjay: thanks for the post.

Re: Imran survived revolt at 1992 World Cup -Miandad

While it is very true that Imran Khan is the greatest captain that Pakistan has ever seen, I was totally disappointed with his acceptance speech at the WC. He only talked about the hospital and nothing else.

Re: Imran survived revolt at 1992 World Cup -Miandad

JM is not whiter than white (neither is Imran) like you are painting him. He was a great batsman no doubt (I rate him as Pak’s best batsman) but he sometimes came across as a chichora (just look at some of his antics on the pitch and even off it like flashing a bunch of bananas at the camera when it was right on him during the 1999-2000 series in India! JM was the coach then. I could not believe my eyes what JM was doing knowing fully well that he was on the giant screen! It was a retarded act at best) and I am afraid lack of education has a lot to do with how he sometimes conducted himself on the field. Imran on the other hand always conducted himself with dignity and grace on the pitch (and even Inzi, Yousuf and Younus etc. for that matter) and was genuinely respected by everyone. Ramiz may have had a few differences with Imran on that tour (these things are quite normal btw as long as they remain within sensible limits) but I have my serious doubts that he was planning a revolt against Imran Khan. I know for a fact that Ramiz Raja holds Imran Khan in the highest esteem. Imran Khan (like he now favours Younis Khan as captain) infact publicly voiced his support for Ramiz as captain when Salim Malik was having a few problems.

JM was apparently bullying and black-mailing the selectors throughout his career http://www.dawn.com/2007/11/01/spt3.htm](http://www.dawn.com/2007/11/01/spt3.htm)
