Imran refuses to attend APC on terror

Re: Imran refuses to attend APC on terror

agreements reached in last APC were based on info shared by PPP govt, most of which has been proved wrong time and again. just recently there was that "leaked" report about drone victims, Abbottabad commission report, also fresh intelligence info current govt acquired from N$ meeting ISI chief for long 5 hours etc etc, all this needs a fresh look into this grave issue by all of the stakeholders. everyone agree's that drones should stop, but how? does everyone agree that a fierce and decisive action is required against proven terrorist hideouts who do not want to negotiate, be them in FATA, Sindh, or Punjab. recent failed police drama with "chutu daket" in rajanpure is an example. recent statements of TTP that situation is not favorable for talks is another example. i think all this needs a fresh agreement and all stakeholders need to take responsibility of it, tell their supporters to back security forces where needed, tell them what will be the outcome of shooting down a drone, tell them how we will stop NATO supply etc etc. unless all major parties agree on the "how" part, it will be a failure, either it will have to come from all political parties, or from a dictator

and Karzai will need to be uprooted, he will himself quit before Taliban come back to power.

Re: Imran refuses to attend APC on terror

I myself think that Imran must go to APC no matter how useless it is. And he did not rule out going there provided he knows answers to some questions.

as to why does he want to meet Kayani and NS, he presented some very valid points there. People shoudl watch it.

I commend him for another thing. He does not shy away from hard questions by any anchor. Sadly other party leaders lack this upfront approach. I am sure NS would gain loads of support if he starts taking awaam into confidence.

Re: Imran refuses to attend APC on terror

Gutsy guy with real values. On the other hand, we have ‘leaders’ who fly off to the US to meet their US gods on a day’s notice. And here we have Noon apologists trying to blame Imran for missing the APC when PML-N itself has cancelled the conference.
Dunya News: Pakistan:-Imran Khan refuses meeting Kerry at ‘US embassy’…

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has refused to hold a meeting with US secretary of State John Kerry at United States Embassy.

According to PTI party, US diplomats have contacted Khan to arrange his meeting with Kerry who is due in the country on Wednesday evening.

However, Khan has refused to meet the secretary at US Embassy and has offered to meet him anywhere except the embassy.

The PTI chief is likely to raise up the issue of war on terror and concerns over drones attack in the tribal belt of the country.

Kerry will arrive in Islamabad today on a two-day visit to discuss issues ranging from bilateral relations to regional situation.

During his stay‚ the US Secretary of State will meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and hold talks with Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.

The two sides are expected to discuss resumption of strategic dialogue as well as cooperation in different fields including energy.

The two sides will hold threadbare discussion on regional situation with particular reference to post 2014 situation.

Kerry would be the most senior US official to visit the country since Nawaz Sharif was sworn in as Pakistan s new prime minister after May elections.

Pakistan-US relations are on the mend after virtually collapsing in a series of crises in 2011 including the discovery by US commandos of Osama bin Laden hiding in the northwestern town of Abbottabad.

For seven months Pakistan also cut off NATO overland supply lines into Afghanistan after botched US air strikes killed 24 Pakistani soldiers near the Afghan border.

Pakistani cooperation will be vital as the US withdraws the bulk of its forces from Afghanistan by the end of next year after more than a decade of war, and Sharif has promised his government s support.

But the vexed issue of US drone strikes in Pakistan s tribal zones continues to dog relations, with Islamabad condemning them as a violation of sovereignty.

Re: Imran refuses to attend APC on terror

The APC should have only point point agenda and that is how to eliminate these terrorists. The time for negotiating with them has passed.
