Re: Imran refuses to attend APC on terror
As far as I remember, all parties reach broad based consensus on almost every issue discussed in the past APCs. Let the govt act on those recommendations first. APCs are called only when there is a disagreement between parties, and gaps need to be bridged. For now, there is no major disagreement. Everyone agrees drones should stop. Everyone agrees terrorists should be dealt with. APCs will not determine how they will be dealt with. They will just determine neutral stuff.
Imran's call for a meeting with COAS is logical, because KPK is the hub of terrorism, and the party needs to know what deals army or govt has in place, and why they are not acting the way they should be. Why there is no intelligence sharing with KPK police and what practical steps need to be taken to root out this menace.
On a final note, once the US leaves Afghanistan, Taliban will be back in power. How long do you think it will take them to uproot Karzai and his idiots? US was never able to defeat the taliban. Karzai doesnt stand a chance either.
agreements reached in last APC were based on info shared by PPP govt, most of which has been proved wrong time and again. just recently there was that "leaked" report about drone victims, Abbottabad commission report, also fresh intelligence info current govt acquired from N$ meeting ISI chief for long 5 hours etc etc, all this needs a fresh look into this grave issue by all of the stakeholders. everyone agree's that drones should stop, but how? does everyone agree that a fierce and decisive action is required against proven terrorist hideouts who do not want to negotiate, be them in FATA, Sindh, or Punjab. recent failed police drama with "chutu daket" in rajanpure is an example. recent statements of TTP that situation is not favorable for talks is another example. i think all this needs a fresh agreement and all stakeholders need to take responsibility of it, tell their supporters to back security forces where needed, tell them what will be the outcome of shooting down a drone, tell them how we will stop NATO supply etc etc. unless all major parties agree on the "how" part, it will be a failure, either it will have to come from all political parties, or from a dictator
and Karzai will need to be uprooted, he will himself quit before Taliban come back to power.
