Re: Imran putting shadow cabinet to work
The shadow cabinet thing matures with the continuous democratic process, to my knowledge, it is UK and Australia who practices the Shadow Cabinet phenomenon, where for every minister there is a minister appointed by the opposition, offering the alternate strategy or policy adopted by particular minister or by the govt as a whole. If required than these shadow ministers are taken on board by the govt party to discuss a long term or any decision which has to do something with overall change in some policy ( e.g. in Pakistan the stand on Kashmir or something like that).
Now, what is been in posted in the OP of this thread, clearly is not something new, nor in the world or in the history of Pakistani. If i recall it right, in 90s, as an opposition leader to PPP’s govt, PML-N vowed to have one but then no body what happened to that plan and the same was repeated by MMA and again noting came out of that…
Now this is not 1st time PTI or IK have announced such thing, i remember even last year, there was news ticket saying IK have announced his cabinet and that was it, then there was nothing more on it… again now IK have said he is going to have committee which is going to investigate the assets of all politicians and then going to publish the report, no body knows what happened to that, and now it is stated that Shadow Cabinet is being formed??? when? when the current govt is in its last year??? and that the results of the policies and strategies of the govt is almost known by everyone??? I am sorry, it cannot be called a good step, rather it would be called some political stunt which we have long history of.. i.e. using Jargon which we even don’t know what they stand for and then making huge cry about it and then forgetting about it all together…
