I hope by this, they meant friends, not slaves!!!:bummer:
as long as, both sides have mutual respect and trust, US respects our sovereignty and does not interfers in our internal matters, we cant really afford to cut off relations with this dangerous ally.
**ISLAMABAD: The US Ambassador in Pakistan Cameron Munter on Tuesday revealed that PTI chief Imran Khan and PML-N president Nawaz Sharif both assured him of a pro-US government after next elections, DawnNews reported.
**
The US ambassador, during an interview with BBC Urdu, said that talks did not end at Nato supply restoration, adding that there was still a lot to do for economic development and to eliminate terrorism.
He said that he has held meetings with chiefs of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, adding both the leaders had assured him that they completely support the US.
**Commenting on situation in Afghanistan, Munter said that Pakistan has to become part of solution and not problem.
**
The US envoy said that both countries will have to work together to eliminate insurgents’ hideouts inside Pakistan so as to ensure assistance in Afghan war.
The ambassador said the Nato supply blockade had isolated Pakistan from 50 friendly countries and the resumption had opened the doors for further cooperation. Moreover, he said that the issue of expenses was not part of the negotiations for the resumption of the supply routes.
Re: Imran, Nawaz assured of pro-US government: Munter
Yeah right, whatever an american says is always right?
America doesn't want sincere people like Imran Khan coming to the power, they would rather have people like Zardari and Nawaz Sharif and hence this statement to try to damage the popularity of Imran Khan. I don't believe this american dog for a second.
Re: Imran, Nawaz assured of pro-US government: Munter
This is definitely troubling. Why do we need to follow an explicitly pro US policy? Don't get me wrong, there is no need to make an enemy out of the United States. With an equal friendship, Pakistan does not need to follow US's lead on everything, we can disagree/pursue our national interests.

Re: Imran, Nawaz assured of pro-US government: Munter
If by Pro-US, he means Imran Khan won't seek to deliberately antagonize US, then isn't that what all world leaders commit to before taking power? Not to disturb regional peace, to want to better relations with all nations that have no outstanding conflicts, etc.
I probably wouldn't lose much sleep over what Mr. Munter says about Pakistani Politicians. It's the Pakistani public that has to decide and show for it with votes who they trust with the positions of power. How people vote, and who they elect will tell tales about what experience public has gained from the most hideous form of governance in the past 10 years.
Re: Imran, Nawaz assured of pro-US government: Munter
If by support he means both will help US in exiting from the current war in Afghanistan and help taleban to come to the negotiating table I don't see any problem with that. As the peace in pakistan depends upon the resolution of the conflict in Afghanistan. But if pro US government means increase in the slave master relationship both will lose support.

Cool down guys, get down from your high horses and have a dose of reality and reality is, we don't have to divided between anti and pro Americans, we are going to get nothing but troubles if we pose anti-american, we need to be pro-American to the extent that does not harm interest of Pakistan... the country like Pakistan, who have strong Economy ties with US, who depend on US for its warfare and who had to be in good terms with European (another strong allies of US), we need to pose as Pro-Americans, we need to live by that measure till we are good enough to stand on our feets... till then, we are in global orphanage, and i must say, being pro-American he have not done that bad... we have managed to have good relations with China and now are seeking same with Russia, though with Russians it is not going to as good as Chinese, but still it will balance the equation to some extent...
To all those Defenders of Pakistan, who sees Pro-Americanism as a Ghadari, please call off your sons and daughters back from US...
Remember it is nothing to be a pro-american as long as we can keep it balanced...

PTI is not anti-US, but against its policies: Imran Khan
KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said that his party is not against any country, but is against the US policy in the war on terror. “PTI does not want to have bad relations with any country.”
Speaking to the media at Karachi airport on Wednesday, the party chief said that he had been against the US’ war on terror since day one and is still against it. “If we want to win this war against terrorism, then we should come out of the US war.”
He said the PTI is neither “pro nor against the US. It takes a position based on its policies. Thus, PTI has consistently opposed American war in Afghanistan and Pakistan’s partnership in it. Events have proved the party stand to be correct.”
The statements come a day after the US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter said in an interview to BBC Urdu that he had been assured by Khan that should the PTI came into power in the next general elections, they would not create an environment hostile to the superpower.
“[Munter] either misunderstood or misquoted my discussion with him on Pakistan-US relations,” Khan clarified.
He said that he had told Munter that the PTI would react to policies which the party disagreed with but would seek to build an enduring relationship with the US based on shared interests and mutual respect.
“It is this part of the interaction that has been highlighted by the media and not the fact that I had candidly told Munter that the PTI cannot support reopening of Nato supplies or any other activity that furthers US war effort in Afghanistan,” he clarified.
Re: Imran, Nawaz assured of pro-US government: Munter
10 Billion Dollar$ question.
USA is clearly seeing the pouplarity of PTI and is very much worried about the ousting of its puppets currently in the govt. It had to start this debate to spread confusion against PTI. This will at least put doubts in the minds of some, if not many, people.
