**- Pakistan is doing the biggest himaaqat by turning 1 million patriotic tribal people against them for the sake of catching 2-3,000 suspected Al-Qaeda men. **
- These tribal people played the biggest role in the independence of Azad Kashmir in 1948
I feel that there is no option left for the government now but to go after the extremists/militants/terrorists among these tribal people otherwise Pakistan will turn into another Afghanistan and we will see more and more atrocities like the ones we are seeing in Swat in other parts of Pakistan. That said it was probably unwise to send troops there in the first place. These qabailies have always been fiercely independent, jaahil, hut dharam and narrow-minded in their thinking but atleast they were minding their own business and letting us live in relative peace and harmony before we started this military operation. Inaction now would be suicidal but I fear we may have created 1 million potential terrorists/suicide bombers/beheaders with this himaaqat.

Surely the government has failed to realize tribal people that these foreign elements are not their freinds. A large number of them support these militants.

When I mention role of tribal people in kashmir's independence, no one believed me.
I was surprised how people, who are against tribal people, didn't know the history.

There is an Indian hand in all this as i have been saying this all along.
Yesterday, Brig. Cheema (foreign office spokesman) said that there is evidence of foreign involvement in FATA. There are 12 Indian consulates along the Pak Afghan border, what are they doing?
And secondly, there is an urgent need to educate the Pakistani clergy of realities of present day. All they think of gathering a crowd and fight a war.
Like they did during Afghan invasion. This guy Sufi Muhammad gathered thousands of people and marched towards Afghanistan "bajamaat" andmost of them were killed by few women US pilots that dropped bombs on them.
It reminded me of Parody of Iqbal's verses in shikwa.

Give them liberty. Sealed the borders. Let them whatever they want to do in their "muluk". The best solution.
Yes that is the only way out of this mess in the long-term but in the short-term we have to act against these abhorrent criminals in Swat and arrest Mullah Fazlullah. And since tribal areas will always have considerable influence on what goes on in esp. areas of NWFP bordering them, it might not be such a bad idea to make those areas one-country. Let them have their miswak and niswaar and let them adhere to stone age culture if they want to.

Fully agree with you there. Education and some kind of mafahimat with these qabaaili is the key here.

Let them have their miswak and niswaar and let them adhere to stone age culture if they want to.
Government needs to evacuate the civilians and give them shelter. This isthe least the can do to gain som public trust. Instead of indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas.
