This guy has no idea what he is talking about..

1. OGDC has nothing to do with gas distribution. SNGPL and SSGPL distribute gas in the country.

2. He is crying about the increase in the prices of gas.. but does not take in to account the deferential of gas with other energy sources. The prices of gas have to be increased to lower the share of gas in the over all energy mix of the country for the simple reason we do not have enough gas.

3. Most of the gas price deferential is going in the pocket of big industrialist who use gas for captive power generation of fertilizer factories with very little benefit to the common people. This resource should be diverted to our social uplift instead of making these big industrialist super duper rich..

4. He is right about the problem of 18 amendment for Punjab. If the federal government is responsible for the distribution of gas, how can they give preferential treatment to some provinces. Either all the energy sector should be a provincial matter and every province becomes responsible for production and distribution… or the whole sector becomes the federal responsibility. You can not have this kind of “no body is responsible” system in the country..

5. He has nailed the fertilizer problem. Farmer has received no advantage of billions given as gas subsidy to the fertilizer manufacturers.. and this money was the resource of the nation which is being looted ruthlessly..

A leader is supposed to be honest and intelligent and have an understanding of good governance but he is not expected to know everything

Does Obama for instance know every thing about every aspect of US foreign policy, economy, health, energy requirements, internal security and so on? … ofcourse not!! Hence you have all these advisers and technocrats etc. to advise you on important policy matters and decisions

The other day my cousin asked me how is IK going to collect taxes when 85% of the country does not pay taxes at all? I said they could impose fines etc. to which his reply was such things already exist but no body really gives a damn about them, all you need to survive in Pakistan is good contacts!! So is IK going to force all those (who do not pay their taxes) to comply with authority at gun point? My simple answer to that was, if the leader is honest & sincere and if people see that:

A- those in government are paying their taxes honestly &
B- the money is being used efficiently on various development projects/benefiting people

then they (well the vast majority anyway) w’d happily pay their taxes. Right now the majority of the public has serious distrust of corrupt governments and they know that their money is only going to end up in the pockets of corrupt politicians and military rulers.

I am not saying that Imran is a harfan maula who can fix every wrong in our society. He does not have a magic wand. Only time will tell if he can really deliver (that is if he is given the chance by corrupt voters in Pakistan) but deep down in their hearts even IK’s worst critics know that he is atleast not a thief and won’t plunder national wealth like the goons of PPP and PML-N. Even Jinnah might have struggled to fix today’s Pakistan, things are so bad in our society
