I beg to differ. I know you guys have a very bad lot when talking about politicians. They may be corrupt, crooks and morons but you cant say they are not brave.
The power in Pakistan bears so much fruit that the kind of risk they take in pakistan makes you wonder what could have they achieved if they showed same intelligence and guts in any other field.
I mean if you look at all the major politicians (barring Imran) , everyone has paid their dues and done their time.
Benzir leads from the front. Having lost most of her family she came back despite having threats and didnt run away when she was first attacked. She paid the ultimate price for the power.
NZ has lost so many years in jail or in exile. It broke his family structure.
Altaf lost his brother and spent time behind bars.
Bugti paid price with his life. etc etc..
So, i am not saying that they made those sacrifices for the love of the nation (may be they did) , but they certainly did it for that elusive control of the power.
May be it is the civil society which needs to stand up now. They failed to tackle small time crook like Water car guy, expecting them to counter taliban ideology would need efforts of the size of Malala.
Civil society of previous generation failed to stand up against Zia, If they fail again this time then the consequences will be far worse.
