When did PTI and IK lose their way?
I think they were OK till April 2014. They had accepted the election results but just wanted irregularities investigated and election reforms implemented for future elections.
They only wanted 4 constituencies investigated for irregularities.
But they were frustrated by PML-N which refused to accept their demands.

Then in April 2014 ISI and Geo fell out over the Hamid Mir shooting. That's when IK and PTI took a wrong turn. They went completely with ISI and turned against GEO, Najam Sethi, Iftikhar Chaudhry and Ramday. All these parties had nothing against PTI. But IK picked a feud against them on behalf of ISI. Result has been only a disaster for PTI.

Your analysis is spot on! :k: I agree that it started going wrong when then fall in hands of agencies and going a duel with everyone except Qadri who left them right hanging in the middle and embarassed.

But here is a thing everyone should remember. I think they are doing very good in KPK governance. And by the time 2018 elections are held the actions they are taking right now there will have started giving fruits. And if they make KPK a symbol of success, I can guarantee that noone can stop IK from coming in center, exactly how Modi ran over from Gujrat to Delhi.

unlike India where there are many many states that can swing the power route, Pakistan's route to power goes through only one corridor and that is Punjab. You win punjab you are in power, you lose punjab you are sitting in the opposition. And punjab is >70% rural constituencies where bradari system and local political dynamics play a major role and for that you need electable candidates. That 70% punjab and its rural voters dont know and dont care what is going on in KPK. Even if PTI screws KPK, they dont care much. A voter say Raja basharat from rajput group sitting in sumandari village is more worried to make sure that Ch Liaqat from Jatt group does not win. He careless about KPK.

Imran has understood this point and that is why he is welcoming all rural punjab-based electable candidates into his party especially from PPP. Now that is a master stroke and practical politics. PPP is vanished from punjab, if IK can get majority of PPP heavy weights in rural punjab and PMLN screws more, Imran Khan has a very good chance with his own charisma and PTI voter base to win good chunk of punjab.

if you want to change this scenario, divide punjab into several provinces and let them be more independent so that local leadership can emerge in those small provinces. Otherwise, sharif brothers know very well how to play the punjab game and win power
