Rushdie may not be face of enlightenment, but I totally support his right to free speech. As for IK, its a political stunt. He may have won few brownie points with jihadi crowd at home, but it also shows how far IK has gone from progressive to totally jihadi in his quest for power.

Thats such a generalized and misguided comment. You are implying that IK will get power if he goes with what you refer to as the ‘jihadi’ mantra? Im sure you have seen the following that he has commanded, specially in recent times, where a lot of intellectuals, students well educated individuals with no sympathy for terrorism are endorsing him. Certainly not the jihadist category that you speak of.

Imran’s endorsement of negotiations with Taliban instead of a war has been misinterpreted and misused by all his opponents as fodder for their feeble counter arguments. Imran’s argument is fairly clear and valid in my mind. Talk to the Taliban. They live here. A war can only have one winner, and the US cannot win against Alqaeda, and Pakistan cannot win against the Taliban. However, we can negotiate peace, where everyone gets to win. But of course, that option is not feasible for the US, as they need to sell their weapons, and not feasible for Pak govt, as they need to sell their souls.
