Imran Khan hints at Karachi visit on July 15

Imran Khan has tried thrice during the last one year to visit Karachi and has been denied all the three times. Let’s see if he is allowed the visit this time. MQM must be making some strategy to block this visit  .I though do hope that it would not result in any mayhem or blood shed. I personally do feel that he is a Pakistani and should be allowed to move freely in all areas of Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD • Not allowed thrice in the last few months to engage in political activity in Karachi, Pakistan Tehrike Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, is all set to again try to visit the city forbidden to him (he was served notices by the last Musharraf government barring his entry) on July 15.

Sources in the party said here yesterday that the office-bearers and workers were pressing for Imran’s visit to Pakistan’s largest city and he finally decided to oblige them during second week of July.

“The provincial chapter of the party feels virtually alienated as Imran has not visited them since he was not allowed to come out of the Karachi airport since May last year,” an official said. He tried twice afterwards, but status quo was maintained.

The PTI alleges that the Karachi-based Muttahida Qaumi Movement led by London- exiled Altaf Hussain was behind his forced no-entry to one of the federating units in the past. It is interesting to note that the MQM is again part of the provincial government in Sindh.

Imran had filed an application with the British police against Hussain last year but the Scotland Yard, according to PTI, could not make progress in this context as the previous government and the caretakers too did not cooperate with it.

Last month, he submitted some documents with London police, calling for legal proceedings against Hussain for his alleged terrorist role in Pakistan.

“It is a non-issue. I don’t want to make any comment on Imran’s political role or his latest move of filing papers with the British police,” said senior MQM leader Haider Rizvi, when contacted for comments.

When asked, would he be free this time to visit Karachi, Rizvi said it was the discretion and jurisdiction of the provincial government.

Sindh PTI President Ismail Khan confirmed when contacted that the party chairman was expected to land in Karachi on July 15 to preside over the central executive committee meeting there.

When asked were they sure this time, the cricketer-turned politician would not face any hurdle from the new ruling coalition government in the province, he said “It is his democratic and constitutional right to visit any part of Pakistan any time”.

He said Imran or his party did not opt for clearance, adding that whosoever wanted to stop him from going to the port city was free to do so.

He said Imran was also expected to visit Hyderabad to chair the Sindh provincial executive committee meeting.

Re: Imran Khan hints at Karachi visit on July 15

I dont think his entry will be banned this time, firstly because of the PPP being in power, secondly its pointless to ban his entry this time around.

Agreed. As far I remember Sindh CM has invited IK to visit Karachi a few months ago. He shouldn,t have banned to visit Karachi by MQM.

As long as he doesn't bring his unnecessary douche baggery with him, he should be welcome everywhere. Its our pakistan. Not just someones.

Re: Imran Khan hints at Karachi visit on July 15

^ and what douche baggery did he bring?

And Saeed, whats the big deal if he visits Karachi and meets with PTI's Karachi chapter? Nothing will happen, this is just political victimization and outright racism, i.e. stopping him from entering Karachi, which will should no longer happen with the PPP running the show in Sindh.

I have already said that above and am again quoting: "I personally do feel that he is a Pakistani and should be allowed to move freely in all areas of Pakistan."
