It's a thoroughly commendable decision for Mr and Mrs Khan to celebrate their valima with madarrash children, and sit down on the floor and eat with them. It was a very sweet gesture. A lot of youth from affluent class look up to him (exactly the type Pakistan's wedding industry tries to fool), and I'd like to hope this will send a positive reminder and perhaps set a nice example for people belonging to all backgrounds to follow. In a country where your wedding is considered the ultimate expression of your wealth, social status, and taste, for someone like Imran to reject all these customs and traditions is phenomenally refreshing. Even his first marriage was a very low key event, and at that time he married a young aristocrat whose wedding could've been the wedding of the decade in her own country. So he is consistent with his belief in simple marriage ceremonies.
I know people say Valima is Sunnat yet end up spending ridiculous amount of money and resources feeding elaborate feast to friends and family to prove a point. I have no appreciation for such practices.

That was political need of those times. It promoted ZAB to his Pakistani followers as a person who believes in strong ties with other Islamic countries and concept of Islamic ummah. Maybe ZAB would not have achieved the political profile without that political move to gain innocent pakistani followers.

How on earth can people expect her to give honest, professional and balanced opinions on political matters where PTI or Imran himself is the main party? 70% of the time it is Imran who is the centre of all heated campaigning and gets directly lambasted in the media, how would approach those debates?
Imagine Imran Khan's wife asking PMLN Minister (if not Nawaz Sharif himself) "so what do you think about Imran Khan's decision's to do xyz" on TV? And the reply is - "well you are his wife, you tell me...what he really thinks about his own decision, then I'll give you my opinion". Honestly, if she doesn't quit her job, I really hope someone puts her in an embarrassingly awkward position to make her realise the utter stupidity of her selfish and self indulgent decision to carry on being in front of camera looking glamorous in the name of 'journalism' when there is this larger and unmissable conflict of interest in play. Again, someone needs to remind Dawn what BBC would've done had she married one of the Miliband brothers.
