Swipe cards for guests to enter Imran wedding venue

MUMBAI: Bollywood’s young sensation Imran Khan is all set to tie the knot with long-time girlfriend Avantika Malik Monday and is sending out invites in the form of swipe cards to keep gatecrashers out of the venue.

Along with the wedding card to the selected list of invitees, Imran, 27, has attached swipe cards.

“Along with the invitation cards, the guests are also given a swipe card, which is necessary to access the venue,” said a source close to the actor.

The wedding functions are starting Saturday (Jan 8) and will be followed by a registered marriage Jan 10. After the marriage the newly-weds, along with their guests, will head to Avantika’s farmhouse in Karjat for celebrations.

As expected, both households are buzzing with activities preceding the marriage.

“There is so much happening at home. Lot of activities - rehearsals for the sangeet functions and preparations for the wedding,” said Kiran Rao, who is Imran’s uncle Aamir Khan’s wife.

Bollywood actor Imran Khan’s wedding is the first high profile wedding of the year and he is making sure that it is nothing less than perfect, so much so that even the cooks are being flown from Lucknow to prepare traditional non-vegetarian dishes.

“For the wedding, cooks are being specially flying down from Lucknow. These are specialists and have been cooking for the family (Nassir Hussain’s) for more than five decades. This is a traditional family of cooks having a more than 200 year-old lineage,” said a source close to the family.

“They are even bringing the ingredients from Lucknow. All spices, vessels and other ingredients are being flown as they are very particular,” added the source.

Khyber, a North West frontier specialty restaurant, will be doing the vegetarian cuisine.

The ceremonies for the marriage will kickstart Saturday with Mehndi from 6 p.m. at Avantika’s farmhouse in Karjat, followed by a night-long party.

Invitees are essentially family, close friends and people that Imran has worked with.

On Jan 10, the registered wedding will take place at Imran’s home with only close family members in attendance. This will be celebrated with a dinner at Taj Lands End hotel.

End of the month, when the newly-wed couple returns from their honeymoon, Imran’s uncle and superstar Aamir Khan, along with his wife Kiran Rao will be hosting a high profile reception for the couple and the ‘who is who’ of the industry are expected to be there.

**Karan Johar to design wedding outfit for Imran

**The heartthrob of Bollywood, Imran Khan will finally walk down the aisle with his longtime girlfriend Avantika Malik. Imran and Avantika will tie the knot on January 10. Though Avantika has taken up the responsibility of all the important aspects of wedding preparations, friend to the couple Karan Johar is not left behind. KJO is making all the efforts to make sure that the wedding of Imran and Avantika is a memorable one.

According to sources, Karan has taken efforts to ensure that the wedding dresses of Imran and Avantika are done. Infact, Karan sought the help of his designer friends Manish Malhotra and Varun Bahl to give the final shape to their wedding dresses. Karan has also given his advice regarding the wedding garments of the couple.

The buzz is doing the rounds that Avantika will don an orange and ash hued lehenga for the wedding. However, Imran will be wearing a traditional outfit on the Mehendi ceremony on January 8. Imran will also wear a western outfit on his wedding day.

It is not only the bride and groom that are receiving all the attention from Karan as Aamir Khan, Imran’s maternal uncle and his son Junaid will also don outfits that will be specially designed by Karan himself.
