Re: Imran Farhat should be the next test captain of Pakistan - Sarfraz Nawaz
You're right, as a bowler, he was one of the best pacers to have played the game. Other than that 9 wickets perfomance there was also the record 7 wickets for 1 run (against England I think). He pioneered reverse swing.
However, as a human being I'm afraid the guy's a knob.
Bowling in the past...and analyzing present cricket situation are completely two different things...we the observers should be more objective at present...a la carte... :)
Re: Imran Farhat should be the next test captain of Pakistan - Sarfraz Nawaz
Nope
Fazal Mahmood and Khan Mohammad were the first genuine pacers from Pakistan. Fazal inspired the likes of Imran Khan
They were fast bowlers or medium fast yo can say, the first genuine pacer was Imran followed by Akram, waqar and Shoaib after him. Recently we also had Aamir. These were genuinely fast bowlers, way ahead of Fazal and Khan and Sarfraz, even though they were very good bowlers. I have watched Sarfraz in many tests, he was no way near to Imran's pace.
Re: Imran Farhat should be the next test captain of Pakistan - Sarfraz Nawaz
You’re welcome
That was actually during the same spell of 9/86. Needing 382 for victory, Australia were 304/4 at one stage and cruising but Sarfraz turned the game upside down with his magical spell of swing bowling. Pakistan eventually won the test by 71 runs.
Also Sarfraz’s figures of 9/86 are the best innings figures ever by a Pakistani bowler outside Pakistan
Qadir’s best of 9/56 was against Windies in Lahore (1987/8)
Re: Imran Farhat should be the next test captain of Pakistan - Sarfraz Nawaz
I remember Sarfraz Nawaz very well. If I recall, he was related to either Zaheer Abbas or Majid Khan. From memory, he was more of a swing bowler than sheer pace. Played with Intikab Alam, Mushtaq, Sadeeq, Majid, Zaheer, Wasim Bari, Qadir, Qasim et al. That team was special.

Thats right. Sarfraz Nawaz wasnt much about pace. He was more of a medium pacer. Our first genuine PACE bowler was Imran Khan.

btw, I just saw this interview! what utter load of crap. Sarfraz Nawaz baaz nai aata.. iss ne yeh kaha uss ne woh kaha and the presenter is talking in such certain terms k kamran akmal k team se jaane k baad match fixing k baad doosray bhaion ko appracoh kiya ja sakta hai?
God, its not just indian media. Pakistani media is pathetic too!
Re: Imran Farhat should be the next test captain of Pakistan - Sarfraz Nawaz
I think Pakistani ex players should take example from Indian ex players.
Our players have gone in to oblivion after retirement. No body knows where they are or if they are alive.
Most of them are either doing business or have joined politics.
You see them from time to time on some sports related shows, read columns from them in news papers but never in a political show accusing their team.
You mean like Navjot Sidhu. He is hyper to put it mildly & his ramblings are even worse than Sarfraz's. I do not find 'em funny at all.
Re: Imran Farhat should be the next test captain of Pakistan - Sarfraz Nawaz
Sarfaraz Nawaz is a cricketer-turn-politician so its only fair to expect that he will end up in political talk show.
What Indian Ex player are you talking about who has gone to "gumnam" life? u mean likes of Gavaskar, Shastri, Manjnaker, Kapil dev, Azheruddin, Jadejia, Sidhu etc etc?

I don't see any need for ex-cricketeers to go into oblivion. Why not continue in their area of expertise if they choose to? High time the sub-continent developed its own coaches from amongst the pool of ex-cricketeers.

He wasn't related to either. The team of late 70's and eighties were a joy to watch. I still remember the 1982 win over england at Lords, I was at the ground. One which I will never forget.

dont bring your natural enemity against india here , what is important we dont disrespect our veteran players , simply because they dont involve themselves in any idiotic blame game ,whatever they say they say only if they are dead sure , nothing derogatery , after all they are not selfish or hungry for five minutes of sensational popularity . so no comparison between your sarfaraz and indian crickenters .
