Good to see Imran is continuing to speak out against the terrorist known as Altaf Hussain. 10 of his PTI workers were slaughtered on Altaf’s orders on May 12th, 2007.

PAKISTAN Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has urged British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to take notice of criminal activities of MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain in the light of British laws on terrorism.

In a letter written to Brown, the PTI called the PM’s attention to the activities of Altaf Hussain, who was granted the status of a British citizen after he had fled from Pakistan as a fugitive from justice.

**Imran wrote that at the time of Altaf’s arrival in London, he was facing 234 registered criminal cases including 44 murder charges and 18 torture charges. The PTI chief alleged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the party headed by Altaf was controlled in ‘mafia-style’ with his word being the law. Detractors faced the ultimate punishment - death - carried out through the private armed force maintained at his Karachi barricaded headquarters known as Nine Zero, wrote Imran to the British premier. **

Holding Altaf Hussain responsible for the May 12 mayhem of 2007, Imran wrote that on Altaf’s order, his party was involved in the May 12, 2007 carnage in Karachi where 48 people lost their lives and 200 sustained bullet wounds, including 10 workers of the PTI.

He added that Altaf-led MQM later went on to physically disrupt court hearings of this incident.

Besides, alleging Altaf’s involvement in the recent killings in Karachi, Imran wrote that most recently, and at a time when the MQM was a coalition partner in the federal and provincial governments, Altaf Hussain (sitting in London) sought to incite ethnic violence and vigilantism by calling on his supporters to arm themselves and fight ‘Talibanisation’ a label he tried to put on the two million Pashtun workers of Karachi.
**
Imran wrote that as a result 36 people were killed over two days of violence and when the Sindh inspector general of police implicated the MQM in his inquiry, they demanded his immediate removal.**
**
The PTI chief further wrote that in 2007, on two occasions, the Federal Court of Canada ruled that the MQM met the legal definition of a terrorist organisation and its members could not be given political asylum, adding, “the US State Department web site describes the MQM as a violent organisation”.**

Imran for action against Altaf

Re: Imran blasts Altaf - Writes to Gordon Brown

It's not in Britain's interest to do anything about Altaf right now. They know he has some influence in Federal government now, so they can use the threat of stripping his citizenship and deporting him to Pakistan to try and influence Federal governance.

I'm sure they must have done that in private by now, it makes complete sense. Particularly for foreign political figures, approval for citizenship is at the Home Office's discretion. I wonder how much of the MQM's support for Musharraf and now Zardari is genuine supoprt and how much came from Britain promising to secure Altaf's support for Musharraf and Zardari in exchange for Pakistan doing something for Britain.

Re: Imran blasts Altaf - Writes to Gordon Brown

Does Imran really thinks that by just writing the letter to GB , he is going to smear good name of Altaf Bhai ?
If he thinks that Altaf Bhai has committed some kind of crimes he should prove them in courts and then demand an extradition from GB. Imaran know and the world knows that they cannot prove anything so they just chew their own heart out by whining from time to time about the most loved personality in Karachi , Hyderabad and Sakkhar.

Good name of Altaf bhai :hehe: p.s. welcome back

Strange that when Pakistan is facing threats from the Taliban … he is advocating “peace treaties” with them while as advocating action against Altaf …

Mr Asad Qaisar demanded NWFP Government to stop the operation in Boneer and go for table talks with Taliban.

Mr Shah Farman GS NWFP demanded for peace treaty with Taliban in affected areas

PTI holds a massive Peace Rally in Peshawar > Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf > Insaf News

namashkaar:

Firstly, what is so strange about the opposition to voice concern with what the Govt is dong.

Secondly, there is a peaceful diplomatic solution to every war. Whether or not to use it, that resides in the preview of those who are elected.

Lastly, how did you ascertain the notion that everyone in Pakistan supports the Govt and its actions? From what I see, the Govt has absolutely no popular support.

Absolutely there is always an option for a peacefull solution to a war ..... the government took that route ... inspite of opposition it went ahead and did a peace deal which lead to Nizam e Adl regulation. After this Imran Khan and other opposition leaders should have stressed upon the Taliban to negotiate a peace deal.

But you are as well aware of what happened instead.... today Pakistan army is fighting the terrorist who have been responsible for killing a number of innocent people and a number of soldiers of Pakistan army. But instead of asking the Taliban to stand down .... Imran Khan thinks that Pakistan army should stand down and instead take action against Altaf Hussian !!!!!

Single most nonsensical statement I have ever read on here.

Re: Imran blasts Altaf - Writes to Gordon Brown

What shocks me is that Altaf claims himself to be a leader , why is he hiding away in london, if he is innocent why doesnt he appear in the Pakistani courts and prove his innocense?

He is only hiding away because he knows he is guilty to the extreme. A leader doesnt just GIVE ORDERS whilst living in a palace in some other country.. a leader leads from the front. If Benazir could make every efforts to be amongst her people despite all the threats to her life ... why is Altaf chickening out???????

Re: Imran blasts Altaf - Writes to Gordon Brown

Great, he can finally put his hard-earnt 2.2 to good use by penning letters to redundant heads-of-state who have been notoriously complicit in the destruction of a land he claims as home.

He needs to take lessons from Joanna Lumley.

Re: Imran blasts Altaf - Writes to Gordon Brown

Mashallah, imran is so great. I don’t know how he can make such grand sacrifices in writing bold letters. Inshallah, british army will come to karachi and protect pashtuns against MQM. :k:

Re: Imran blasts Altaf - Writes to Gordon Brown

Speaking out against a terrorist organization such as MQM is the first step.

Re: Imran blasts Altaf - Writes to Gordon Brown

Great stuff he did, he should leave politics immediately, start an NGO and make 2 more hospitals :k:

What would have been the peaceful diplomatic solution to the Korean War?
What would have been the peaceful solution to Crusades?
What would have been the peaceful solution the the 1965 war?
What would have been the peaceful solution after Archuduke Ferdinand was assisnated in 1914 that would have avoided WW1?

Re: Imran blasts Altaf - Writes to Gordon Brown

good on imran though i doubt it will achieve anything. UK isnt going to be all understanding in this issue. although i hope altaf gets what he deserves.

Re: Imran blasts Altaf - Writes to Gordon Brown

I am really disappointed in Imran Khan, I was very hopeful for a good outcome of his cases against Altaf Hussen filed in courts but nothing has happened. Now his statements are becoming - as someone as already said earlier - Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan like.

Re: Imran blasts Altaf - Writes to Gordon Brown

^whatever did happen to those cases?

Deir aye Durust aye... hope other PTI supporters follows and smell the coffee !

I don’t know, he had promised an outcome in ‘few weeks’ and nothing has come out in ‘few months’ :frowning:

oye, I’m not and never was PTI supporter :naraz:

Why is IK so concerned about AH? As much as I hate to see AH not being brought to justice, I feel IK should focus on what is eating the country and dividing it right now ie the Taliban. The MQM dont seem to be interested in separating Karachi from Pakistan right now. The Taliban wont take over Pakistan, fat chance! They will take over NWFP and make it into a separate country. If the Taliban take over NWFP, there will be no more Pakistan. The Americans will take over and Sindh and Balochistan will probably go there separate ways.

The Taliban are killing more Pakistani civilians these days than the MQM.

At this moment in time most of our energy should be spent on the Taliban. The Brits know of AH record but will only "become aware" of it when they need to.
