ok guys, i need your help quick.
is the name ‘simran’ a muslim name? i always thought it was like a name that could be used by hindus and muslims, coz im pretty sure iv heard of muslim girls named simran and i have a few sikh and hindu friends named simran too. but i cant seem to find the meaning of the name…and its coming up as a hindu/sikh name online.
can u guys help please?can it be used as a muslim anme?and whats the meaning?

as far as i know i have heard this name in hindi movies, It's non muslim i guess

simran means rosary i think, the beaded tasbeeh. It is a hindu name. the muslim name u may be confusing it ith is simra/samra

actually i just looked it up and it means meditation/remembrance so i supposed it means 'tasbeeh karna' in urdu. Where an islamic name would be prefered i guess u could use a hindi name so long as it means well. people use persian, russan, french names without thinking twice so why not hindi.

i always thought its such a cute name...and if the mullahs protest u can always drop the "n" and make it simra. and if u wanna whitewash the name u can always drop the "ra" and make it "sim" or is that more like a chinese name? dim sim? o i need coffeeeeeeeee

Simran means prayer. It is a word from Gurmukhi or the language in which Guru Nanak Dev wrote Sabad or verses. Sikh women have this name. For Sikh men it can be like 'Simranjit Singh Mann"

hmm i was told it means "Remembrance of God"
and it's a common Sikh name.
