what is our purpose:hmmm:
Re: Important ideas for the Phil & Spirituality forum
An idea that many ppl may hate.
doesn matter wat kinda topics u choose, they should just be in "simple" english, the english ppl speak in US, canada, UK, south africa, australia, newzealand etc, not in english that ppl in defence lahore speak to show off that they are very literate (not pin pointing anyone).
it might help many illetrates including me and they will start participating in this forum, cuz then they would know wats the topic is about.
Spirituality and philosophy has nothing to do with Hard english, Buleh shah didn know any english, perhaps he didn even know urdu.
again no offence to anyone and not pin pointing anyone, and if someone doesn like my comments please remove em instead of humiliating me or bashing me :)
ideas were given in good faith.
Re: Important ideas for the Phil & Spirituality forum
Big ideas can only be conveyed using big words. Not really. I second what ES said above.

Ideas accepted in a good faith too with some disappointment over the use of suggestive language, unsubstantially modeling us to have a propensity to be disparaging against one who is in disagreement with us.
Words do not come with “plain” meaning alone; some of them carry a historical context or an ideology, sometimes it is necessary to use one word to avoid writing one page.
Buleh Shah’s language is iconic in Punjabi, one has to dive deep into the ocean of Philosophy and spirituality to find pearls of wisdom in his work, besides one can hardly be creative and coarse at the same time.

I agree

why not discuss the meaning of Bulle Shah's couplet:
"Ee Pyaar de Khatir Arsh bannya
Ee Pyaar de Khatir Farsh bannya"....................

Peace Mods
I believe there should be categories for this forum:
1) A sticky titled "Definitions" which contains a glossary like list for those words presented in a philosophical context. Then when people wtite they reference the terms in that glossary through the new links system.
2) Thread on Logic
3) Thread on Linguisitics and Science of Language
4) Thread on Introduction to Introspection
5) Thread on Religious aspects to Philosophy
6) Metaphysics
7) Philosophy and psychology of self-deception and self-delusion

The most complex ideas can be made simpler, by using simple words. Some times it is worth writing one page, or even a chapter, to convey worthy message to masses, not to few. Khalil Gibran was the master in doing so.

EDIT**
The Fox
A fox looked at his shadow at sunrise and said, "I will have
a camel for lunch today." And all morning he went about looking
for camels. But at noon he saw his shadow again--and he said, "A
mouse will do."
