There r two very important factors for any nations or culture to sucessfully survive in time, or the cruel years slowly fades their existence on the map.
Science, technology & research being the one important factor & morals, ethics & religion being the other.
Neither without technological development, nor with an animal like living, without human rights, a nation would survive, yet its often seen that the leaders of both extremes tends to repel from each other.
A Scientist in most casses tends to look for the scientific explanation in every aspect of life & deny’s, condenms the religious leaders preachings of non sense, of beleiving without a reason. Whereas religious leaders often find themselfs calling scientists the evils, one’s who try to play God.
I wonder how will this balance come between the two ? can we make our scientists the preachers, or maybe we can only allow only religious cholars to be the scientists ?? I m sure this will only mess up the things more:)
Interesting. A few months ago i got an email from an islamic site.
They were talking about the same thing. But only they called them
the 'traditionalists' and the 'modernists'. They are so polorized that it is hard to reach a common ground. In the end of the article what they suggested was people who choose a middle ground, are a mixture of both, tradionalist and modernist.... people like you and me..
The change starts within,, if people change because they see a good in you, then you are making a difference.. then it spreads.. it takes time..but its not impossible.
well, ultimately (i believe) that everything comes from Allah (SWT) and as for the scientists we can show then with examples from the Quran that Islam is in fact a very scientific religion. for example, only up to perhaps 100/200 years ago did people figure out about the foetus, zygote etc etc but if you read Surah Alaq (the first few verses to be revealed!) it tells us all about it! Does it not say 'created man from a clot' etc and guess what - isn't the zygote a clot?!? If you present scientists with a view like that, they can't argue! After all, the Quran was revealed to an illiterate man over 1400 years ago and scientists are still trying to figure out all this stuff now! It's already there sweethearts - all you have to do is look!
