importance of teaching your kids what you did not learn!

is it true that parents want their kids to learn what they themselves could not?

i am pointing to things like life skills, or better planning about academic and or life plan.

life skills could be, for instance, swimming, especially for young boys and girls.
also, teaching kids to manage money carefully, is crucial.

please know that u should never say No to your child, if s/he is asking questions, when kids are between the ages of 2.5 and 10 .
that’s the developmental psychologist in me speaking!

instead, make them feel comfortable, & in control of their environment, empower them, by waiting for them to ask for your help.

as an adult, let them discover their own powers and allow them room to explore their surroundings, as long as they do not accidentally or deliberately hurt themselves, or someone else.
and if they do the latter, they need u and ur love & attention.

set of rules around the house, and things to watch out for when away from parents’ supervision as well as age-appropriate manners aside, express what would u definitely teach ur kid/s?

hey dush.

i think parents want their kids to live a better life than they, themselves did. so its true they want the kids to lead a better life..but they also want their kids to learn a lesson from the way the parents were brought up. for instance..my abbu grew up in a house without a phone. now, he did get me a cellphone when i was 13..but he always reminds me that its a commodity..and checks up on how i use my minutes. so! parents want their kids to have better things, yes thats true..but they want their kids to keep the principles intact.

and you ask what we’d want our kids to learn? personally..i’d want my kids to know the presence of both parents in their lives..partly because my dad was almost never home when i was growing up..i think its very important that both ammi abbu are around to watch their kids and to talk to them. and i always wanted to learn how to drive a car that is manual…and i havent yet..so i’ll make sure my kids now how to do that :chupki:
