I thought this only applies to the first month or so after the wedding because you’re a new ‘dulhan’ and your in laws want to show you off with all that chamak dhamak.
After the initial months you should still dress nice for yourself and your spouse but it doesn’t need to be all bling-blingy.
Clothes is fine but jewelry and makeup at home bothers me. I’m glad I’m not with someone who would expect me to wear it all the time either.
