Importance of a Healthy Lifestyle

Not a fat-shaming or a thread discussing the effects of obesity, but just wondering, how important is a healthy lifestyle to everyone here, (especially being Desis, our food isn’t the most compatible with the health)? How important is it for you to have a spouse who values a healthy lifestyle?

I doubt anyone will say NO. Everyone knows the value of a healthy lifestyle and I agree that ti’s something everyone should strive to as well. But then why are some people healthy and not others? For someone who was never exposed to healthy habits or came from families that just didn’t know better, it’s not a second nature… being healthy is a sum of the choices you make multiple times a day, every single day. Whether its circumstances, moods, depression, any other underlying health issues…not every single choice will be the most ideal one.

And just to add…its not just physical health, emotional and mental health is just as important

Some people have more access to water than others.

I believe in exercising, but diet, meh, I eat what I want, when I want.

I don’t think i apply to this post. I’ve never been able to gain weight..fast metabolism and all that jazz. I eat what i want and quite like sports so the exercise bit is covered. However, if I’m full, I’m full. No number of desi aunties blackmailing or force feeding will work. I’m a human not a trash can. Gotta be realistic. You are what you eat.

I eat whatever i want. Im not one to diet because neither can i bear the hunger, nor can i compromise on enjoying my food, we have a short life enjoy it! However, I eat everything in moderation and normally sweat it out at the gym.

Very important. We desis don’t have separate meals for everyone so if the two salan dishes at home are covered in oil then everyone eats the same food. Exercise can only do so much if the food consumption is all wrong. I don’t like the taste of salt so I pretty much ban it but then my dad goes crazy with salt shakers so it’s difficult to please everyone.

Agree with badabing, I eat whatever I want most of the time but I exercise regularly.
