What is the success scope of such businesses ? anybody into it, if yes, how did you got started …what kind of things are worth importing from Pakistan .. AND what are the custom & tax regulations in Pakistan (except bribery of course).. best and cheapest way of shipping ?
What kind of customer base you plan on entertaining?. Meaning location & demographics. Pakistan's top three exports are Wheat, Cotton and Rice. But i am sure you are interested in non-consumables. In this category, you got handicrafts, rugs, furniture, etc.
One usually pays duty in the country of import. So, you have to find out from your local customs agent or web site.
Please provide with some more details and I will try to help you. I have some experience in this field.
funguy - thanks, right now its only an idea ... but you are right its the handicraft that I am mainly interested in. I want traditional pakistani handmade handicraft mostly wooden stuff. Furniture could be a possibility too, but then the shipment would come expensive.
Well, Europe is an old market for Pakistani handicrafts. You will be facing a lot of competition. I would not recommend opening up a shop as it would have recurring expenses. The best thing would be to order sample quantities (you may avoid duty on samples) and try to sell through newspaper ads or something like ebay. If you get a good response locally, you may wana partnership with an existing business that would compliment your products. Such as an antique shop or a furniture store.
The good thing is you can experiment with very little investment at risk but the bad news is that success rate for such endeavors isn't very promissing.
