i just want to know if it is necessary to have jabs before goin 2 pk.. we are travelling in 3 weeks si personally think it’s 2 late… but we have a 5 yr old n 2 year old with us so somepne please please let me know.
oh n also how cold will it be in rawalpindi in december???
You should definitely get your shots before leaving for Pakistan. Also get some malaria pills to take there. I believe you start taking the malaria medication 2 weeks before you leave and once a week for every week you will be in Pakistan.
I do not advise any shots all you need is avoid water even boiled water should be avoided rather you should only use bottled water. Never take food that is cold and try to avoid Salad you should be fine without any immunizations. Asa precaution you can carry Immodium for diheria and possibly some Malarial tablets if you will be travelling in South of Pakistan
In december Rawalpindi will be pretty chilli around 5 degrees to 1 degree centigrade. During day temprature is fine but for children batter take winter clothes.
thankyou jamal for your advice!!!!! we are only going for 3 weeks so Inshallah we should be fine and i will definitely ask for malaria tablets.........
My sister is in Lahore right now with her 3 kids( ages 7,5, and 3). The only shots she got for them was a flu shot and they seem to be alright so far..They drink only juice, and bottled water..
I just returned from Islamabad, its cold there. it was raining the other day which changed the weather. You should take warm clothes with you, especially for the little ones.
I was sick for the first three months when I came to Lahore earlier this year, then I adopted drinking tap water ... eating whatever I wanted for wherever I wanted. By the time I was alright, I left Lahore for almost a month & now I am back in Lahore but this time I am imune.
thankyou all for your advice, as my doctor thinks its up 2 me as it is not a requirement to go to pakistan, but so soon before we are travelling worries me as i dont want any adverse reaction..........
i'll definitely pack warm clothes!!!!!!!!
if the kids get ill they'll get ill independent of jabs or not so Inshallah i hope they will be fine........
God knows Sajal. Though one of the reasons cud be since its washed with the water, if water carrying any bacteria germs whatever cud cause illness. I guess ppl aren't that careful and don't care what kind of water they use to wash it. But Azad looks like to be having more of a fishy reason as in why to avoid it.
Avoid the salad because it is uncooked, and uncooked vegetables 'can' contain more bacteria than cooked foods, as well as the fact that it is rinsed in the water.
The general rule is peel it, cook it, boil it or forget it. So eat cucumbers and fruits if they are peeled, cook everything well and boil the milk and water before drinking.
Eat lots of yogurt as well, it helps with digestion :)
I never got the jabs for myself or my kids, and we were always fine, alhamdulillah, but when we go to karachi we get take anti-malarials
update
1- our pediatrician recomends hepatitus A shots.
It's a course of 2. They are given 6 months apart. He also
mentioned it's now a requirement (even if you are not traveling).
2- malaria pills
You have to start taking them a week before departure, and
continue to take one, once a week for the time u are there and 4 weeks
after you come back. So if I were to go for 5 weeks to Pakistan, I would
end up taking em for 10 weeks (once a week).
Again this was recomended by a pediatrician. Not sure
whether adults need the same or not.
It isnt that bad, eating raw vegetables. Gosh this is Pakistan not a kooray ka drum.. It depends on how clean are you.
My brother in law visited pakistan for the first time with his family (3 kids 7-5-3 years of age) They used to eat raw vegetables and fuits. Nothing happened to them.
Just wash them thoroughly, with clean water.
