Immigration Reform - 10 Executive Actions

Obama

This could be relevant to some of us, but from a purely politics point of view, its business as usual in Washington: Gridlock!!!

This is what Mr. Obama wants to do:

  • Expand Deferred Action for young illegal immigrants
  • Expand Deferred Action for parents of citizens and permanent residents
  • Prioritize deportations of serious criminals
  • End ‘Secure Communities’ and start a new program
  • Boost pay for ICE officers
  • Expand high-tech visas
  • Strengthen border security
  • Expand provisional waivers to spouses and children of legal permanent residents
  • Expand Parole
  • Promote the naturalization process.

Republicans are having a fit. Sen Sessions penned an op ed in Politico enumerating the ways it is a bad idea. Sen Reid wants to delay it till after Congress passes the budget. Sen McConnell is a relatively reasonable guy, and Mr. Obama is the President who is desperate and has nothing to lose, so who knows there could very well be a compromise here somewhere.

I personally know a few people who can benefit from some of these actions. Am sure you all do too.

Re: Immigration Reform - 10 Executive Actions

Sen Reid is from the Democrat party.
Sen. McConnell and reasonable?

The dems should have pressed immigration reform prior to the mid terms. But they wilted. Typical BB Democrat party.
