immigration question - marriage

For an American citizen to marry a Pakistani citizen on a student VISA, does anyone know how complicated this may be or what the procedure is? I have looked at the ins.gov site and it indicates many different forms to be filled out so I was just wondering…thanks

You should consider a K3 Visa, it's a subsection under the fiance or K Visas. This Visa allows you to legally bring your wife back to the states in a much faster way.

You should consider an immigration attorney. I don't know what area of the country you live in but be careful, there are some attorney's that make a lot of false promises.

The K-3 Visa will allow her to come here and instead of the waiting period (for her permanent status) to be in Pakistan, it can be done here. You will have to file a 'change of status' petition once she legally arrives here but until then, she will be on a temporary 2yr visa. Not allowed to work without INS authorization.

The next step will for her to get a work authorization card, fingerprinting

and that's all i got up to. I'm assuming that there's not much more after that until the final goal of a green card.

I hope that helps out some.
