He came to US for his masters on a student visa. With the way things are these days, he cannot find a job and may have to go back.
I don’t think he can get married to anyone. But he was quite da playa during college and claims he got jiggy with many girls (presumebly citizens but maybe some illegals as well). Would that help with any sort of perm residence or visa?
Can someone here with a legal background shed some light?

Paper marriage is very risky now a days and is not advisable. If he is a talented person and has IT degree there is still hope for him.
Many companies have small IT budget and would hire a fresh out of college person with IT degree .
Why doesn't he become shareef now and get settled in life , get married in some respectable family like 99.99 percent desi boys and girls do ? That will secure his and some girls future and give peace of mind to some desi family who have a grown up daughter and are all stressed out to get her married to some shareef boy with bright future.

In that case you are right . No job prospects. Only recourse is GC by marriage.

Yes brother, it used to be that if u got a good degree u could get a job in the west but not now. So only way to stay here is by marriage. Most pakistani brothers come here and do that. Ideally with a muslim girl but if push comes to shove, they do marry the british girls.
