i m a polio patient, juss had a surgery thru a technique, they call it ilezorv technique …during the process they drilled few rods in my whole leg round abt 32 places and fixed an apparatus to romove the contracture…wid dis appaaratus the patient will have to suffer round abt 4 n half months as i did…my right leg is mashallah done n is working to some extent and on sep 6th i had the final surgery of my left leg…again an apparatus and again 4 months on bed…My purpose of writng this all is that duriing this period on bed it hurts a lot n one cant sleep …and i dont call it pain coz pain is ery short term to describe. it…for pain relief i take HCL nalbuphine (brand name kinz) after evrey 25 or 26 hr juss to sleep…i took it in my first stage when my right leg was operated n used it continously for 2 n half months than for 6 moths i dint take a single kinz coz i was out of pain than…bubt now in my recent surgery is a bit complicated soit hurts a lot,n i m taking kinz for last six weeks or so ,.once a day …my question is dat wht side effects i can counter afterwards and r they irreversible …impotency is the basic concern i have abt this drug coz ppl suggest that prolonged use of HCL nalbuphine affect sexual abilities…i need guidance in this regard …

This is not a forum with its own clinical staff and medical doctors.
I think you'd best talk to your surgeon about side effects of the drugs you're taking, or look them up on the internet from the websites of the companies that make them. Drug companies usually have lists of drugs they produce on the internet that feature a list of side effects. The side effects are also listed on your perscription, and I suppose you can speak to your pharmacist about them as well.

I don't think it can cause impotency. Though your concern should be Drug Dependance as u say you've been taking it for sleep and you're taking it daily for 6 weeks now, be careful. I did go through some literature but did not find it to be related to impotency so don't worry on that count.
I'd recommend you to consult your doctor and don't take long term medications like that all by yourself.

hi.. i’m sorry i don’t have any advise for you - on the contrarty i wanted to ask abt the procedure you had done? I have a cuzin who is abt 28 yrs old and has had polio since she was abt 2 i think - so pretty much her whole life and cannot walk. Her legs are lifeless to my understanding. Is there a procedure out there that may allow her to walk?

off course i talked to my surgeon abt it and done a lil research on internet…i juss wanted a favour frm a GS memeber who is a medical practitioner k have he ever come accross wid such case in which impotency as side effect is involved…my surgeon said its all abt dependancy but few others r saying impotency is a question…so i jusswanted to make my mind clear

show_sha i really mind sharing few things coz i think that few things must not be discussed in public but ur case is a bit different,so i must tell u this its not going to make u completely impotent but it is definitly going to affect ur sexual abilities.These medicines make u weak.One of my friend is a gynachologist and she told me that if u take these medicines for a long period it makes a very bad affect on ur body,and not just sexual abilities ur brain starts dying.
one of my friends had an operation but my friend was a girl and she used to take medicines for the purpose of sleeping and she used to take them from a very long time.She had some problems in her family related to her parents.so she started taking these type of medicine from a very young age and then after some years she felt some pain in her stomach she ignored it but when the pain got unbearable for her she went to a doctor and he told her that her ovary got some kind of fungus because of this medicine thing and the ovary has to be removed.it sounds really horrible but she went through this operation and she is never going to be a mother.
so my personal opinion is its not too late ur not taking ur medicines on regular basis ur just using them bcoz u have to.but dont make it a habbit.coz if u will it wud be bad for u so u just take care.INSHA ALLAH u will be fine soon.adn dont worry about the impotency or ur sexual abilities because taking these medicines for 4 months or 8 months is not going to affect on ur body.but avoid these medicines.for ur own good:)
