I love California Rolls and sometimes Unagi rolls (eel yikes), but never questioned where imitation crab came from until now. I am very pleased with the answer :smiley:

Mmmmm....crab rangoons. Never had crab until I tried a rangoon. Oh so good. It does't taste fishy at all...or meaty at all.

i hear hooters has really good crab legs....although id feel awkward-ish going there

Good crab is a tad expensive...but As far as halal...hmm I think its makroo...but still not sure 100%

The Opinion differs

One school of thought say its haraaam

One says its makrooh

But , most free lance muslims eat and justify that its fish and fish is halaal and regard crab as fish. But in reality crabs is not fish. Even scientifucally the Crab phyllum is Anthrapoda which is genetically not even close to what we call FISH

I used to eat fries from Mcdonalds but an employee of McDOnalds told me that they put lard based oils to make it extra crispy and greasy..and I confirmed from severeal others and they said the same. I had to stop going to Mcdonalds.

I never knew about lobsters ,crabs etc being haraam till I came to the US , when i found out that these were in fact considered makrooh and thus avoided eating them. I haven't read it up though I should but i'm not that religiously well versed i'm afraid to say !

**Like BR said i used to stick to ordering fries until a waiter once at a diner asked me if i was muslim (he was turkish ) and then recommended I don't order the fries as most of these places use the same oil to fry bacon etc. **

**I think it just extends to what your belief system is and how far it extends , some ppl still eat chicken at all places saying its ok if U just say Bismillah , others say thats not enough . **

For me if there is a doubt about anything better avoid than indulge !
