[img] Tag

Why image tag i.e. is supported in blogs, PMs and profile Messages but not in regular posts ??

Re: Tag

it is supported in RKS at least ..

one Image tag throws the width of the whole page to the right and one has to scroll up and down as well as right and left to read even a normal post

Re: Tag

And if there are many image codes in a regular thread and those pictures are taken off of external servers, the codes will show place holders with red X instead of the image. That will not only mess up the dimensions of the pages, as TLK mentioned, but there will be no pictures. That's why images should be uploaded on GS servers because they won't be removed, without a valid reason.

never mind

Re: Tag

but its good that we have [media] tag :jhanda:

Re: Tag

good point.. i just have to work out how to do that now lol

Re: Tag

Okay so why does a picture that is uploaded on GS gets changed when the other namesake file is saved on my computer?

Re: Tag

^ Say you post a picture with the name of abc.jpg (an apple's pic) and upload it. A few days later, I want to upload a picture of a banana and I name the image same abc.jpg. The uploading utility will overwrite the apple's picture with the banana's picture because it is the most recent picture with that name.

That's why when I upload any pictures, I always name them unique. i.e. ShikraApple1, ShikraBanana1 etc. Nobody else should name their images that way, unless they are trying to mess things up on purpose.

Back in the old days, this is what the system used to do to avoid such issues.

Each user would have their own images folder. So, shay would have a folder with her pictures and the picture address would be ....../shay/abc.jpg and shikra's folder address would be ......shikra/abc.jpg. That way the images will not get overwritten because my abc.jpg will be in MY folder and your abc.jpg will be in YOUR folder. In addition, the system used to add random numbers at the end of the file name, that way no one could deliberately overwrite pictures. Let's say you posted abc.jpg, the system would automatically add a random number and rename it abc564565.jpg and if I uploaded another picture with the same name (abc.jpg), the system would add a random number at the end of my file name and those names would never be alike, hence no chance of overwriting.

Re: Tag

^oh man :bummer: i am so bad at being creative and naming my files and just name them shay all the time!

Re: Tag

^Simply name them Shay and ask a baby in your family to hit their fingers on the keyboard and there you go, you have a random file name!

Re: Tag

lol.......
b/w are u sure other users filename can override our filenames ?

Re: Tag

Yep, unless the system has updated.

I recently saw a “how to upload images” thread in wedding forum. The moderator had named the images 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg etc. to show the screen shots of all steps involved in posting images. Well, some girl decided to post her wedding pictures and she named them same names 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg etc.

The funny thing is that the girl named her mehndi pic 1.jpg, mayon pic 2.jpg, makeup pic 3.jpg and so on. By the time she finished posting her images, the “how to” thread had the right text but the pics of that bride instead of any screen shots. By the time the thread ended, we had a bride from mehndi to barat pics :omg:
