( . Bismillahir Rahman irRaheem In the Name of Allaah, The Most Gracious,
The
Most Kind
– - Signs of weak imaan:
Committing sins and not feeling any guilt
Having a hard heart and no desire to read the Quraan
Feeling lazy to do good deeds, e.g. being late for salaat
Neglecting the Sunnah
Having mood swings, for instance being upset about petty things and
being
bothered and irritated most of the time.
Not feeling anything when hearing verses from the Quraan, for intances
when
Allah warns us of punishments and his promise of glad tidings.
Finding difficulty in remembring Allah and making zikr.
Not feeling bad when things are done against the Shariah.
Having a desire for status.
Being mean and miserly,
Ordering to do good deeds when you are not practising them yourself.
Feeling pleased when things are not progressing for others.
13)People bothering about whether something is haram or halal only; and not
avoiding makhru (not recommended) things.
Making fun of people who do simple good deeds, like cleaning the
mosque.
When not feeling concerned about the situation of muslims.
Not feeling the responsibility to do something to promote islam.
Being unable to deal with calamities, i.e. yelling in funerals.
Liking to argue just for the sake of arguing without any proof.
Becoming engrossed and very involved for dunyah, i.e. wordly things,
for
instance feeling bad where losing something in terms of material wealth.
Becoming engrossed and obsessive in ourselves
LISTED BELOW ARE WAYS TO INCREASE OUR IMAAN:
1)Recitation and pondering on the meanings of the Quraan. Tranquility then
descends and our heart becomes soft. To get optimum benefit, remind
ourselves
that Allah is speaking to us. People are described in
different categories in the Quraan; think in which of them do we find
ourselves
2)Realise the greatness of Allah. Everything is under his control. There
are
signs in everything we see that points us to his greatness. Everythings
happen
according to his permission. Allah keeps track and
looks after everything, even a black ant on a blact rock ina dark
moonless night.
To make an effort to gain knowledge, at least the basic things
in daily life e.g. how to make the wudu properly. To know the meaning
behind Allah’s name and attributes. People who have taqwah are those who
have
knowledge.
To attend gatherings where Allah is remembered. In such gatherings we
are
surrounded by angels.
We have to increase our good deeds. One good deed leads to another good
deed. Someone who gives charity, Allah will make way for him or her to do
good
deeds easy for that person. Good deeds must be done continuously, not in
spurts.
We must fear end of our life; the rememderance of death is the
destroyer
of pleasures
To remember the different levels of akhirah, for instance when we are
put
in our graves, when we are jugded, whether we are in
paradise or hell.
Make duah, realise that we need Allah. Be humble. Not to have much hope
for
wordly things in this life
Our love for Subhanallah Wa Ta’Allah must be shown in actons. We must
hope
Allah will accept our prayers, and be in constant fear that we do wrong. At
night before going to sleep, we must think what good did we do for during
day.
Realise the effects of sins and disobediance- ones imaan is increased
with
good deeds and our imaan is decreased by bad deeds. Everything that happens
is
because Allah wanted it. When calamity befalls us-it is also from Allah. It
is
a direct result of our disobediance to Allah.
Oh, I completely forgot about the topic. COULD SOMEBODY PLEAZE CORRECT ME ON THIS ONE AS I THINK THAT IMAAN IS A CONSTANT THING IT DOESN'T CHANGES WITH TIME.
I think it does change with time because if it didn’t there wouldnt be a need to introduce ‘shaitan’. For example one of teh signs of weak imaan posted above is: Not feeling anything when hearing verses from the Quran—lets say I wasn’t giving my utmost attention because I started to make eye contacts with a friend sitting across from me. (just an example
So according to the ‘signs’ of weakening iman posted above, a justification on means of changes in an individual’s iman can be made.
oh no, I try to follow quran and sunnah as much as I can. I meant earlier that I needed a reference from Quran or Hadith as to where does it say that Imaan is varying thing or vice versa.

What Shahiduk has referred to as signs of weak iman can be viewed in a totally different context.
Most of the singns are just manifestations of human psychology and how the incredible body part which we call "Brain" works.
To illustrate,
** No desire to read Quran**
When you don't understand most of what you are reading, how would you get the urge to read it.
being late for salt
Its a physical exercise and human body does not want to exercise let alone physical pray five times a day.
Having mood swings
Its is just natural like in pregnancy, premenstrual mood swings, menopause and psychiatric disorders. One can not control it.
Having a desire for status
Very natural human feeling.
Most of the other signs of weak iman can easily be considered as simply the way human brain works and is completely natural. The ways suggested to increase the iman are anologous to brain washing.
Now beat me up.
Belief is not what mind possesses, it is what possesses the mind!
anyways this makes me bring the evidences to support whatever has been said initially in this thread.
I will do that later INshallah but a few things.
seeking knowledge is obligatory on every muslim. If one doesnt know how to recite Quran, He/she should learn it. Prophet pbuh advised all of us to read Quran as one word is equal to 10 good deeds and one word is like a letter for example ALIF , of ALIF LAAM MEEM. ( as said similar by Prophet pbuh)
Getting late for Salat. I heard a scholar saying that if one person always goes to the salat late like a lazy man and delays to pray it , Allah will delay to purify his sins on the day of judgement.
Mood swings. i guess he means having a bad IKHLAQ (character) towards others. being rude and mean towards others. where as a person is supposed to be nice to others. smiling and saying good things to others is also a type of charity…
Desire for Status : means that he might like this life and strive for this life more than the here after. and neglect the obligatory duties towards Allah on his quest for the wordly status.
Due to the shortage of time i cannot write alot and give the hadeeth sources but if you have a question, lemme know.
ws’salamz
