The Master Sabah

Ok, sorry.
Thank you for correcting me up.

Nadia...Its easy to say that we dont need imams or any one else to guide us when we have Quran and Sunnat. But heres the thing. If we were to give every muslim a copy of the Holy Quran, and a list of all the hadiths, and told them that they were on their own, then for sure, everyone would be coming up with their own interpretation of each and every verse of the Holy Quran and each hadees. We go to schools, colleges etc and sit with our teachers for knowledge, even though we have plenty of books on hand. We cant learn just by reading the books. We need someone wiser to reason it out for us. Same with Quran and hadees. The prophet (SAW) said....in duniya, always look at the people worse off than you, and in deen, always look at people better off than you. So thats why we have a natural tendency to look up to these imams for guidance in matters where we hit a wall. However, if we have a situation in which we have a Qurani ayat or a hadees compared to the saying of an Imam, then we should always go with what the Holy Quran says or hadees narrates....even though this situation is very unlikely to occur.

I agree with Camille, the Qur'an is our Criterion, its our Message - its all we really need. Imams have used their own 'human' faculties to interpret the pages of the Qur'an. The Qur'an though is a relatively simple book, it was revealed to simple people, who were not well learned. Its message is quite straightforward. I believe most aspects of Islam can be dealt with using common sense. More technical aspects of Islam may require either some research (if you want to explore on your own) or the use of an Imam. Differences between schools are usually minor, dealing with details of Islam which are relatively insignificant (i.e. how to position yourself when you pray, perform ablution, enter a room, etc.), differing in respects to ritualistic spirituality not fundamentals of Islam. If you stick to the message of the Qu'ran (which is fundamental Islam) you will remain on the straight path, you don't have to subscribe to any school (at least not formally).

nadia sis, the simple answer to your uljhun is that it is a profecy of our belowed prophet(saw) that the muslim world will be scattered into different sects, so there is no need to reject this point. today we have witnessed his(saw)words.

now the question is who is right and who is wrong, and what is the best possible solution to unite all the sects.

well every one is right according to their beliefs and even they can pull out ahadiths and verses to support their claim of righteousness, but the most zaroori thing is that who in this world consider himself wrong and seeks for the truth.

we pray to allah(swt) five times a day and in each rakt we recite.. o allah guide us on the right path (sura fatiah). has anyone ever thought on this powerful dua, no, if anyone has the courage to seek his guidance then he must and must have cried while reciting this only sura of quran. afssos ki baat hai kay hum namaz main bachpunn kay rati rataee alfaaz dauhratay hain, samajh kay nahin perhtay. kaash humari bhi ro ro kay aankhain soojh jateen kaash humaray bhi pair kharay kharay soojh jatay, kaash hum apnay pyaray aaqa mohammad(sa) ki koi to khjoobi to apna saktay.. afsoos kay humaray paas waqt nahin hai in sab cheezoon kay leay.

one book one rasool and so many ideologies so many doctrines yet we still raise fingers that i am right and you are wrong.

i think i have said enuff.. the decision rests on you.

believe me allah is the best guidance !

Zaraatif,
May Allah give you sense to refrain from doubting the intentions of honourable imams in formulating the science of fiqh. Always remember that only Allah knows the true intentions of a person and you have made a highly judgmental remark without corroborating it with any kind of evidence. They were indeed pious people, as testified by so many people and went through extreme hardships for the sake of Islam. Imam Abu Hanifa rejected the office of Qadi (equivalent to chief justice today) on the grounds that he did not like illegal influence of kings in making him pass unislamic fatwas or rulings. He also went through jail for not siding with the ruler on unislamic matters. Imam Malik was lashed more than 70 times for standing up to the caliph taking side of imam Hasan's progeny for caliphate. Imam Ahmad bin Hambal was made to suffer so much that when he was 80 years old he was forced to give a fatwa that Quran is creation and thus its orders can be changed yet he stood like a mountain against this and was lashed until he almost fainted. From his wounds, he later on died. Do you or me have the courage to doubt the integrity of these noble people who defended the honor of Islam in face of such hardships. We sit on our cozy couches and chat on internet about "improving" Islam yet we neither have the courage or qualifications to know the basics of shariat and fiqh. Just because we possess the knowledge from reading a couple of books does not entitle us to criticize people who spent their entire lives in the pursuit of hadith and quran. These marvellous people memorized thousands of ahadith and knew the usool-e-fiqh, the principles of deriving laws from the quran and hadith. Yet we don't know the terminology, much less the meaning and we pretend to be the most learned in all aspects of the deen. May Allah save us all from this fitna of 20th century! Ameen

ok i think i get it guys ....
correct me if i am wrong

Prophet Mohammad did various things in various times .......
to tell us what is right and what is wrong, or how a certain thing should be done the Imams helped the Muslims to follow the right way .......so Imams are good .....

i didnt say that Imams were bad or anystuff like that ......all i said was that.....or the thing thts bugging me is that no matter where i go i will see a conflict over simple things ........

for intance take milad as an example ......
there is a conflict in the Salam part ...
some ppl say its wrong to stand up , while others think its right.....

these conflicts just drive me crazy ....
hey thanks for all the help btw....

shamas .......i do believe in the unseen ...
