I have had sunni friends have an ‘imam zamin’ just as ive had shia friends have imam zamin..its basically engaging but with a religious understanding, since there is no formal form of ‘engagement’ in islam. but nonetheless, its an engagement ceremony basically. so dress like youd dress for an engagement. imam zamin itself is the thing tied around the arm of the guy and girl and have sadqa done. but ive been to some that dont even tie the actual imam zamin and still call their function ‘imam zamin’
