Imam Zaman Ceremony

So I am going to an Imam Zaman ceremony in April but I have never been to one before. What should I expect?
Also, what should I wear, I mean something more formal or a little bit on the casual side? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

dear it depend on which type of cermony it is with how many ppl invited & how many hours then accoirding that u can feel its formal or semi formal....

it is basically an engagement ceremony so whatever you'll wear for an engagement ceremony.

if its imam zamen then its engagment for shia ppl

I have been to one before, & like has been said it is just like a normal engagement ceremony, except they have a few different rasms?
I just wore a semi-formal outfit, as it was at my friends home.

I have had sunni friends have an 'imam zamin' just as ive had shia friends have imam zamin..its basically engaging but with a religious understanding, since there is no formal form of 'engagement' in islam. but nonetheless, its an engagement ceremony basically. so dress like youd dress for an engagement. imam zamin itself is the thing tied around the arm of the guy and girl and have sadqa done. but ive been to some that dont even tie the actual imam zamin and still call their function 'imam zamin'

dear if i say something no need to attack to find somone ignorant! if im wrong u can use better word than ignorant...anyway

first of all im not pakistani & my information is from my in-laws...imam zamin which for long time i was feeling its a name for engagment but when i came to know how to prounance it my hubby said its Imam-Zame(i)n...

which basicaly doesnt mean tiing arround arm so called as imam zamin...its mean Imam will do Zemanat of this promise...& imam will be shahed for our promise for this engagment...its like giving promise

so if i said its a shia cuz my hubby said & also as far as i know sunni ppl doesnt belive in Imamate...so may according custom mixture they would just call their engagment as imam zamin but without knowing their name....rather their mean for imam is else...
But for shias Imam means thoes 12th imam that shia belives & sunnies doesnt belive so this Imam zamin doesnt mean tthat thing u tie but means abt the promise of engagment that imam will promise u along with our promise & it has a big respect that shia ppl consider it so strong to not break it ...

so i dont know wats that mean for a sunni person to call imam zamin for her engagment when they dont belive in imamate? rather they just take a name without minding its mean & considering it as tiying arround Arm...

anyhow if im wrong correct me as im not insisting i know all as i said im not pakistani so no need to rush on me...

i explained above in my post...its a shia culture & why its called as Imam Zamin....
