Rabbz, the paragraph you quoted above shows why Yazid (LA) was compelled to stop further abusing Ahle Bait. He was afraid of the political storm it might generate against him. In reality the storm was already brewing and that storm showed in the form of Mukhtar.
Imam Zainul Abedin was not being arrogant when he showed his high status to the Syrians. He did that because Syrians were under propaganda from Yazid and Muawiyah, who used to curse and abuse the Ahle Bait. So Imam told them who exactly he was.
And it had huge impact on those people.
