**Authentic Hadiths regarding the identification of **Imam Mahdi:

According to these reliable, authentic, and universally accepted narrations, Mahdi will:
Be from among the family of Prophet(SAW), among the descendants of Fatima(RA);
Have a broad forehead and pointed noise;
Appear in one night;
Appear just before the day of judgment;
Have same name as hazrat Muhammad(SAW);
Escape from Madina to Makkah where people will pledge allegiance to him;
Receive pledge and help of Iraqi people;
Fight in battles;
Rule over the Arabs for seven years according to Sunnah;
Spread justice and equity on earth;
Eradicate tyranny and oppression;
Lead a prayer in Mekkah which Jesus(pbuh) will follow in;
NOT be the same individual as the Promised Messiah (Jesus).

Amr son of Shamer quoted Jabir, who quoted Mohammed bin Ali to have said:

Thay tu wh abaa tumharay tum kya ho
haath per haath dharay muntazir-e-farda ho.
What is Mehdi, he will be a person who will stand for his believes, and who will openly work/fight for the right of weak and for the Justice.
This is what quran is teaching isn’t it. we as muslims do not want to act on quran as it will be against our interest of Nafs, so we have developed a concept that there is one more promised one, who will come and lead us to peace and justice.
Funny Isn’t it? We have the book, we have clear orders, and we have a role model, and with all this we are still waiting for someone to come and teach us or implement the orders of Allah all mighty? then what is our duty, just to wait? and we will get jannah for this? it is pathetic.
your job as muslims is not to sit on your hands and wait, because when the Imam (as) will arrive, it will not be a walk in the park for the true momins, it will require sheer faith and dedicaton/ So those who will sit around waiting will most likely carry on waiting when the zuhoor actually happens, because in essense they'll be totally useless if they've not prepared themselves, mentally, spiritually or practically.
