Re: Imam Mahdi (pbuh) and the Dajjal
Worrying about coming of events is for no other reason than to be ready for them. They're going to come, and will come to pass as all authentic prophecies have throughout times of past, and present whether we worry about them or not, whether we prepare for them or not. So if we worry about those events, it's for own sake. If we ignore them, we do so for our own sake.
Guidance is from the mercy of Allah alone. So if I'm true to Allah in my worship, in my actions, and my heart is content that Allah is in control of all things, then just as Allah blessed me with the guidance of Islam, Allah will guide me to follow the right person(s) and support them.
This is where it gets scary, and joyful at the same time. Because it's completely insync with Sirat in the hereafter. Our actions, our friendships, our committments in this life manifest themselves physically in the hereafter. If you have been on the straight path in this world, avoided things that are prohibited by Quran, asked for forgiveness if you felt you did something wrong. Then in the same manner you will find it easy to cross the Sirat in the hereafter because it will come naturally; you will be doing what you used to do in this world so nothing changes. For better or for worse. You would find it easy to avoid being snatched by fire, and would reach the destination without distress.
Sorry if the example is unrelated, but felt it was necessary to explain the context.
So in the same way, before arrival of Mahdi/Dajjal/Isa (a.s.), all your actions are for the sake of Allah/God, and your intent behind every action is sincere, then Allah will not lead you astray in the most important of events that determine if you're on the right side or among the wrongdoers. So, Allah/God's mercy plays a big role in which camp we end up in.
I hope that shed some light on what you've said. I seek refuge in Allah, and ask for forgiveness in case I said something that is out of order. Astagfirullah
PS: The reason you may notice the ferver in the coming events is because the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) classified those who are with Mahdi and go to support Isa (a.s.) as the best of people at the time. I dare say, much like companions or other pious people just like they were in it for the sake of Allah alone; so will those people because at the time the odds would be against them just as odds were against the companions where they were just a group of believers surrounded by non-believers, yet they were firm on their belief and their hearts were thoroughly soaked in Tauheed (Belief in Allah/God alone, having no partners worthy of worship). So those who often find interest in the coming events perhaps maybe hopeful that they can be among the righteous when the time arrives, because the reward for them is so vast compared to other times of tribulations. Tribulations of Mahdi/Isa (a.s.) era would be significant in nature. Allah knows best.
Since there is no other reply, it looks like the consensus is that the sequence above is the correct one.
Then I do not understand why everyone is so concerned or interested in the coming of the Dajjal.
We should be just waiting for the arrival of the Imam Mahdi(pbuh) and the real concern should be that we will not be able to recognize the Imam when he comes.
If we do recognize and accept the Imam Mahdi , then we will not be deceived by the Dajjal who comes later, so we can just ignore the Dajjal when he comes.
Is this reasoning correct or there is some other reason to be worried about the coming of the Dajjal?
