If history had been different and imam hussayn had taken a stand against muawiyah, in your view would he have been right or wrong?

It was against the peace treaty if he started fight against the other party. The peace treaty finish/broke down at the death of the other party. That is why he was right.

His(Hussain's(as)) not indulging in war against maweya for a long period of ten years;, after SULLAH of his brother Hassan(as) is a prove that he had agreed with the HIKMATE AMALI of his brother Hassan(as). The SULLAH.
Because doing SULLAH is sunnate our Rasoul as well as war if imposed on some one is also sunnate prophet Mohammed (pbuh)
our prophet ashraful makhloqat showed us both ways for the same HADAF to achieve.
Sullah hudabeiyya and jang E ouhad etc , which he(pbuh) as defensive wars
objective in both the above ways was the same but different ways he had used.
