Imagine for a moment...

Imagine for a moment that for some reason, you’ve given up your religion. If your name was tied into the religion, would you give it up and adopt another and why?

 I’d die before I gave up Islam..
I dont think I can even imagine that..:crying::crying:

No I would not give up my name.

If it was felt that I had to change my name to embrace a religion, then I would not convert to that religion as it would be a very shallow religion!! I don't think the early arabs who converted to Islam changed their names?

if one can change a religion, then why not the name, given the reasons behind it are solid enough, not just for the sake of it..

unless the name scorns the newly embraced religion or religious view or reflects a despised figure or clearly represents a specific religion, i dont see any reason to change the name. an example of such a name would be, Ram for a muslim, Abdullah for christian/hindu etc.

david (dawood) joseph (yousuf) etc. should be fine.

no i dont think i would.... i dont think my name is tied to religion...

i often think though what would i be like if i werent a muslim... dont u think religion defines u? just like a name?

I didn't mean a change of religion, per se. I meant if you just gave it up and became atheist. I wouldn't.

How do you know you’d die if you can’t even imagine it?

BTW, did you get to choose your religion or were born into it?

For me, it is simply the attachment I feel. I've known what my name means for as long as I can remember, and I've always endeavoured to live up to the name (no pun intended...alright, so a little is). I couldn't give it up, however, if a new religion or someone demanded it, I might adopt another name, but keep my first name somewhere in my name. Believe it or not, my new name would probably be RT Wolf. I've grown attached to that, and I can't think of any other name that I would like and would fit me.

I'm getting tired of girls telling me that's cute or I'm sho cute. :p

I suppose when confronted with the idea of having to live without something, you appreciate it more.

^ sorry i dont usually say that hehe... couldnt think of another word at 9am in the morning...

yeah i guess when someone understands the proper meaning behind their name... and how much it is part of their life... its harder to give up :)

Born into it..
but didnt really accept it until my adult life when I researched my religion and others...

If I were born Christian or Jew... how would I know if Islam was better or not ?

What if my dad was a rabbi and my mother a rabbi too? What if I was taught 10 commandments from the day I was born? And I lived right next to a synagogue. And say I was born around same times I am living in. When muslims are ill famed in the world. I am just thinking out loud. I always thought about it.

My conclusion: Given the above mentioned circumstanced I would not change my religion.

danggg dont even wanna imagine it :teary2:

alhamdulillah i was born Muslim :flower1:
