I have been fortunate enough to visit this intriguing place. In grade 7, when we still lived in Karachi, my class took a field trip to Mohen-jo-daro and it was simply amazing. These pictures arent mine but they’re very good and i thought i’d share them with all of you

These pics are not of Karachi, rather they are of Moenjodaro, which is some few hundred miles north of Karachi. This is a historic place where an old civilization was discovered while excavating.
The two most famous historical sites of ancient civilizations in Pakistan are
1. Moenjodaro (Sindh)
2. Harappa (Near Islamabad - in north Pakistan)

I fact Harappa is near Sahiwal some 400 miles from Islamabad and not in northern Pakistan. I been there .... I think u r mixing it with Taxila near Islamabad.
Brilliant post hk! Thanks. On the last two occasions I have been home I have wanted to visit Mohenjodaro but have always got distracted by the usual Karachi stuff - shadi's, family finctions, society things etc.
But maybe you know. Isn't there an internal flight that goes from Karachi to a local airport near Mohenjodaro - near Larkana I think?

yes you're right. There is a little airport in Larkana and i remember it was adorable. Small but beautiful. Mohen-jo-daro is near Larkana. From the airport we were taken in a small van to a guest house for tourists. It was a lot of fun, the guide and the local people were very nice and hospitable. We even visited Benazir's house in Larkana.
As far as i remember, the flight from karachi is half an hour long. The trip's not that expensive and worth taking.
yeah i have visited Harappa.. You have all these people selling fake Buddhas outside the place.. laughing and crying and what not Buddha..
I still have to visit Mohenjodaro, i hear its better then Harrapa..
They also have a Museum near Harrapa displaying neat stuff..
