Image uploads

Hi,

I wanted to ask about what you guys use to mod images which are uploaded/attached to the posts. Most (not all) get very noisy and pixelated once they are posted.

Is there anyway to refine that process up a bit. Or maybe you can provide a way to link pictures from other sites (e.g. flickr etc.), which would not only improve quality but also use up less of your bandwidth.

Re: Image uploads

tags should be enabled for the forums. But i know what the tailored reply will be: hotlinking isnt allowed, we dont want broken links or red x's cos they will look aethetically unpleasing to the eye and leave a permanent scar in our mind.

Re: Image uploads

Pind-man, ur a funny guy. But yes, that tag is what I was referring to.
I do understand that some ppl would not have the knowhow to crop pics down to size but what difference does that make anyway as GS bandwidth won't be used.

Re: Image uploads

Well? If you are going to do it then do it. If not then provide a reason and close this thread, don't leave the bratha hangin'!

Re: Image uploads

image modding used to be done to put gs/paklinks in there.. it then used to save at 70% quality/filesize ratio. we tried tweaking it a bit to change it to 80% but initial issue wasnt solved.. pics still came out noisy/pixelated

Re: Image uploads

Thanks Faizy for some feedback.
O Bhaiyon Behno of the Mod-dom, is this that big of a question? Just delete this question then so no one would ever dare go there!

Re: Image uploads

Bump.

Re: Image uploads

Bandwidth is not an issue!
we have a policiy for not allowing extranal pics (hotlinking waghera). I dont think that can be changed so quickly.

As for the pics quality decreasing, I will get back to you with that later on.

Re: Image uploads

I know its a policy, that’s why I was asking if there was a reason for it. Bandwidth may not be an issue but it will be savings u can use in other places.

Thanks for the response.
