Watching Najam Shiraz on PTV on a music show was disgusting. The guy hardly knows about music and was talking senseless. Having an accent and attitude are not the criterion to be a good singer as well. He should concentrate more on his music rather than on those funky looks and gestures. The singer while singing seems in great trouble and pain, though, the music is not that heavy or laborious. Exaggeration in videos, looks, costume or expressions won’t make the music achieve success.
Pakistani pop stars have to put forward that image! .. with copy-catting western music and trying to have that rugged western looks.. as pop music is alian to Eastern music and have entirely different set of frames.. erosion of our values and culture will create a very dangerious vacuum.. living in west I see how stupid we r copying all the bad things of the west and retaining wrongdoings of our own..
Obviously pop stars do need to prop up some sort of an image for themselves to make them commercial assets. But any such efforts should at least look classy.
Though I have a lot of respect for Najam's artistic abilities, he does overdo his performances. And as of late his music is suffering while he tries to become the next Michael Jackson.
