nasal congestion! I’ve had a stuffy nose for over a month now… i’ve used meds, nasal decongestant sprays, vicks, even the neti pot someone suggested. But my nose is usually so blocked that the neti pot doesn’t even work sometimes the water doesn’t go through. But when it does i do find temporary relief. However the stuffiness comes back all over again.
Did anyone here have nasal congestion this bad? How did u get rid of it? How can i find permanent relief from this situation?? Any help would be much appreciated.
little angel i have some problem of stuffy nose like when i sleep in left side......but i have internal problem ...the flesh inside nose has been increased.....i feel u have some problem like this.....first go to ENt specialist
Yes, time to see a doc. Meantime, if you use warmer water in the neti-pot - as warm as you can take it, that will help melt it out. It wont work unless the water gets through.
There an over-the-counter medication called Actifed that dries out your sinuses too. Be careful with that one! I used it a little too much one time and my sinuses dried out so much that I got a couple of bloody noses!
Ya i guess i might as well go to an ENT specialist.. it's just that i've been to so many docs for various reasons in the past and i just try n avoid them now as much as possible.
Mamaof3 - I tried the neti pot again with warm water it did go through this time.. but one side was still clogged up after i was done. It's just so hard because i can't sleep or do anything! it's taking over me life :(
Have you tried claritin D? My doc advises against it but it works really well. Since you are in so much pain I'd say give it a try. It has to be claritin D though, not the regular kind.
When I was in Pakistan, I caught a horrible cold and cough, and had a stuffy nose for over 6 weeks. Nothing helped, and I was so miserable. It was so weird when one day I was missing home, and cried and cried, and when I was done, the stuffiness was gone
Sarmad I always used OTC decongestants whenever i had a stuffy nose.. and now it has come back to haunt me with the rebound congestion!! It just doesn't work for me anymore .. and my nose ends up getting even more clogged!
However i finally went to the doctor and he said i have a bad throat infection but its weird because i did not have a soar throat at all ! I will be tested for allergies once i come off the antibiotics. I hope i feel better soon because having a stuffy nose for this long is HELL !! I couldn't even taste food properly :( Sighh
aww, yeah those are really bad infections... what prescription did he give you.. sounds like a job for zithromax.. be sure to rest well to help your body fight it off and drink warm fluids like soup, tea, etc. to keep yourself hydrated. hope you feel better soon inshaAllah :)
i have this same prob but the thing is my nose is blocked now for like 5 years...!!
i have been to doctorz enough time...they really dun help...:( just tell me to take a hay fever tablet everyday which i have been taking for 5+ years now daily...:S and they give you this nasal spray which i swear to God doesnt work,....:@
the only time i could breath a bit better is when i take a hot shower or a bath...!!
or apart from that i make this "darcheeni/cinamon" kahwa by simply boiling it in water for a while and add some honey and drink it......it kinda loosens the whatever stuff in the head so i feel a bit better...!!
^ I will def try that.. I was put on antibiotics for throat infection which did help clear up the congestion a bit but as soon i was done with the antibiotic the congestion came back all over again! Sighhhh Gonna make another visit to the doc there has to be a permanent solution! arghhh
