Why there isn’t any thread about the recent bushfire in Australian on gupshup?
re: I'm Shocked!!! - Australia Bush Fires
Yeah because all we talk about is India and Kashmir, along with Gaza.
I heard about 150 something people died on NPR, and the Govt stopped people from going back because the scenes were too depressing and lots of dead bodies had not been recovered. Sad :(
re: I'm Shocked!!! - Australia Bush Fires
^According to the latest news, 500 people have died and around 1000 houses have been destroyed by the fire.
What's worse is that the police say people were restarting fires after firefighters put them out!
re: I'm Shocked!!! - Australia Bush Fires
^Why were they doing that for? To get insurance money?
re: I'm Shocked!!! - Australia Bush Fires
^ burn the dead bodies, to avoid the possibility of deadly diseases spreading around?

cnn says 181? can you post a link?

Because some people like burning things (pyromaniacs), others like the chaos and destruction because they find it exciting and other's just like to harm people.

Fire authorities remain on full alert, in anticipation of a possible wind change later today. The CFA says while the fire is under control, residents should continue to be vigilant.
Most vehicles are using their headlights. Dozens of portable toilets, fuel and extra food have just been delivered to the town’s main sports ground, in case it is needed as a staging area should a wind change make the fire worse.
Healesville is a well populated mountain town, and home to a popular wildlife sanctuary.
The Bunyip Ridge fire in the Bunyip State Park, east of Melbourne, is now covering 25,000 hectares between Gembrook, Powelltown, Neerim Junction and Tonimbuk.
The Department of Sustainability and Environment says residents should not be concerned by extra smoke as backburning is being carried out this afternoon.
Meanwhile, a group of New Zealand firefighters is on its way to Victoria. New Zealand has sent 53 people, whose skills range from firefighting to aircraft management.
Four police dogs are also on the plane. They will help in the effort to recover victims’ bodies.
