i got my wedding dress from lahore last week from a zardozi house and now that i’ve bought it back home i dont like it…i’ve got 2 . 5 mo months till the wedding, what do i do? i’m miserable as i’ve seen better designs and wondering if i should go to a designer???//
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
Did you pick it out?
Was it expensive and can afford to buy another bridal dress?
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
well if u had ur dress made by a designer then i m sure it would be really expensive and buying a new dress wuld b a waste of money..
I think what u should do is talk out wid ur designer..and fix sum things about the dress...mayb u can get sumthing bettter!
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
Firstly try 2 c if its possible 2 make any adjustments 2 ur dress,if that cant be done and ur really unahappy with it,then dont wear it on ur wedding day.As that is ur day,im sure u dont wanna feel miserable with wat ur wearing.Perhaps u can find something at a reasonable price 4 ur taste i hope that u do.
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
am sure it isn't horrible Saila.. you're just attracted to other colours/designs or just don't want to wear it on the wedding day probably. It happens all the time, i buy something and then don't like it when i take it out of the bag at home. Can't you wear that on Walima day (as i said, am sure it is not horrible so you can wear it) and get another one for wedding day? this way you won't be wasting the money.
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
u know in high school one of my teachers got married
and her advice to us was
once u've picked out ur dress, STOP looking at other dresses designers magazines,
theres a reason u picked out the dress in the first place --- u liked it
im not sure if her advice applies to ur situation but i thought it was really smart
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
Saila, first off, where are you located? If you're in the NY/NJ area, I could give you some suggestions for places to try where you should be able to find something good. Zari boutique in NJ will be able to get you a custom-made outfit within 2 months, but I don't know if you're anywhere near there. If you are, let me know and I'll give you the address.
If you feel the dress lacks an elaborate pattern.... maybe some more work can be added to your dress? I know it feels horrible not to be satisfied with your wedding dress, especially considering that your wedding is the one day you want to look like a princess. My suggestion, you stilll have time. Consider your budget, figure out exactly what you want, and start making calls and figuring out what you can have done. Believe me, it's not too late. Good luck.
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
umm, think you can post a pic of it? and then maybe after seeing it we can persuade you to change your mind?
but i'm sure it's not that bad. i think once everything comes together, eg the jewellery, makeup, accessories, it will all click, and you will shine. as for making it from a designer, if you are read to fork out some serious money, then go for it. but seeing what people have been saying on this forum, it isn't that worth it, if you include the time and service.
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
Last month my mom and I picked out a lehnga in Lahore for my sister's wedding. We placed the order, but when we got it, we weren't impressed. Ammi felt really bad, but since we got it on the last day before she was going back to Toronto, we couldn't do much about it. But thankfully, my sis liked it. We figured we'd seen a lot more variety while shopping and knew what kinds were available. And since she hadn't seen them, she liked it.
So I'd suggest, you stop comparing your lehnga with others. Maybe try it on and do a trial makeup and see how it looks. Take a few pics. Like they say, all brides look beautiful on their special day when everything comes together. So don't worry, I'm sure you'll look gorgeous.
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
What exactly don't you like about it????
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
*I also think you should post a pic. of the lehenga here so we can see it. And if you can't post a pic. for some reason, be more specific about what you don't like about it. *
Re: i’m not happy with my wedding dress
what don’t you like about it? Everything or just the design? Now I have to see what this dress looks like since everybody’s asking for a pic of it. ![]()
I always wondered if desi stores take trade-ins, since you never wore the dress and it does seem quite expensive.:hmmm:](http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_12_5.gif)
Re: i’m not happy with my wedding dress
That’s so true! I had picked out my lehnga after visiting a LOT of shops/designers. There’s just sooooooooooooooo much choice, it’s mind boggling. I had decided that I wanted a traditional looking mehroon lehnga, so that’s what I looked for. Mine was left in Lahore when I came back home and I got it the week before my wedding! I had actually forgotten what it looked like and was sure that I had made the wrong choice.
Thankfully though, on the weddignday itself it looked really good.
Don’t picture the lehnga on itself. Try to see the whole picture, you, your jewelry, make-up, hair, accessories etc it’s a totally different look!
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
Why dont you wear the lehnga along with your jewelllery and all the other stuff and make ur sis or some friend take a picture and then see how it all lookns on you.
and stop looking at other magazines to compare.
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
I'm probably going to get shot for saying this but......
What's the big deal about how perfect your dress is? You're not getting married just to dress up fancy and besides, you're only going to wear it for a few hours anyway.
But if you really hate it that much and have the money then just buy another one. Flog the other one on Ebay.
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
I think everyone goes through the phase that "oh my wedding dress isn't nice enough." I went through it myself.
I really liked everyone's advice, especially asimaan's. If you continue to compare and compare, you'll never be satisfied. Once you dress up fully, it'll look amazing. The dresses always look better on with full makeup, hair, jewelry and dupatta, than when they're on a hanger.
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
Look, many brides don't get to pick out what they want to wear, and many don't see it until the day before the wedding. Maybe there's a reason for that. We build up this day to be perfect and to look perfect, and we end up having a bad time despite everyone's hard work because we're preoccupied by some minor detail that no one else really cares about.
My mother in law had my outfit made for me. It's very nice, but I wouldn't have picked it out myself. Did it look nice? yes. Was I happy the day of the wedding? yes.
Let it go. Work with what you got, and move on.
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
post a pic:)
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
hey post a pic. I am looking a lehnga as I am getting married in 3.5 months
let me see if I like it and if u wanna sell it we can make a deal?
Re: i'm not happy with my wedding dress
Where did you go? Have you gone all the way back to Lahore to fix the dress?:D You haven't answered anybody's replies...
