…but do any of you know a decent tailor in the Chicagoland area?
I cannot believe CHICAGO - desiville - does not have a decent tailor! I had an awesome one and I just found out she will be in Pakistan for the remainder of the winter…argh! I tried one lady and she absolutely butchered my Eid outfit and my sister’s.

i knew dis one aunty in napervillee she was reli nice! plus cheap. but i tried calling her up sometime bak and the fone was disconnected. but theres one in devon, i forgot the name of the shop ( remember where the old tahoora used to be? its one shop down , they have a male tailor.) he sewed a choridar pajama and reli trendy kameez. but he charged 30$ . i jus cnt get the name of the shop in my mind!

Can you try and remember Ash? Im so desperate! I need to get some clothes stitched and taken in and its ridiculous how some people will charge SO much money but the workmanship is just horrible!!!

I can stitch salwar kameez for 20$. Sari blouse for 10$ and sari for 15$. I live in Indiana near chicago. If you have the material then I can pretty much do anything with it with regards to style of stitch and manner of cut. I know 50 different yolk designs and can do churidaar style and anarkali style etc. Let me know if you are interested. :)

Isn't his name Rifat? but I heard from someone that he moved to another state. I hope someone can verify this.
I have had some of my outfits stitched by him and he is excellent!!
Yes Its Raffat. He sits at the back portion of Salma Mukhi's store. He does great work like the tailors in Pakistan but charges some good amount too. Its worth it though. His phone number (773) 587 1238. Angel he is still in Chicago.

I have also had stuff sewn from the tailor in Salma Mukhi's shop. I think he is pretty decent.
There is another one i think but i have to wait for mom to come back from Pak and tell me his name. He had some nakhras but did a good job with sis and mom's clothes.
I went there yesterday. He HAS moved away.
Dunno how m I gonna find a proper Desi clothes tailor again :(

Keep looking, I am too! By the way, I didnt know this before but my sister had some clothes sewn by him and he charged her around $70 for stitching. Is that normal? I have always paid around $25 for a suit.

Not normal for a regular shalwar kameez. What did he stitch for yr sister? He charges $ 30 for a regular shalwar Kameez. $ 50 for something with lining under it. Got a chooridar pyjama stitched last year from him with lining for $ 50.
Usually tailors on Devon charge anywhere between $ 25 - $ 35 for a shalwar kameez. I know this lady who stitches a plain shalwar kameez for $ 15 or 18 depending on the design. But she only stitches for me, my sisters & 2 family friends. Kinda moody. Doesn't take clothes from everyone anymore. Her stitching is okay. Although I get daily wear shalwar kameez stitched from her I wouldn't give my wedding clothes to her. Maybe just altering. She alters for $ 4 if u only have to tighten up a shirt. Still gotta find a proper tailor.
